CM Punk 原名 Phil Brooks ，他以 Straight edge 的形象而成为很多年青摔迷的偶像，CM Punk 对于 Straight Edge 的态度是 : "Straight Edge means I'm drug-free, alcohol-free, and better than you!

CM Punk 最初是活跃于 backyard wrestling，后来加入由 Ace Steele 创办的 STEEL DOMAIN WRESTLING接受专业摔角训练，之后于 IWA Mid-South Wrestling 开始了他的职业摔角生涯。

后来又于ROH wrestling school受训，并于ROH演出，他以及Samoa Joe、Homicide三人成为当时ROH的台柱。

2005年 CM Punk 受WWE垂青，签约成为训练选手，首先于OVW表演，2006年7月4日首次于WWE-ECW电视节目中登场，并于8月1日和Justin Credible进行了一场电视公开试合，试合结果是 CM Punk胜，观众反应亦相当理想，CM Punk 成为 WWE 力捧对象，并于2007年9月1日打败John Morrison成为 ECW Champions，但于2008年1月22日输掉给Chavo Guerrero,于2008年兑现了Money In The Bank,击败Edge,成为世界重量级冠军......

About finisher-CM Punk于独立圈时，其终结技为“百事坐击Pepsi Plunge”，之后于ECW初期为“大蛇绞”，而为了让视觉效果更佳，更能塑造CM Punk的格斗风格，终结技正式为现在常用的“GO TO SLEEP”！
