Recap of WrestleMania VI

WrestleMania VI Facts

  • WrestleMania VI featured the first mixed tag match in WrestleMania history, when Dusty Rhodes and Sapphire took on Randy Savage and Sensational Sherri.
  • Ten years before he and Christian captured the World Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 2000, Edge sat ringside at WrestleMania VI, proudly wearing a Hollywood Hogan T-shirt.
  • Andre the Giant ended his three-year association with manager Bobby "The Brain" Heenan at WrestleMania VI, much to the delight of the fans on hand.
  • WrestleMania VI was the first WWE pay-per-view held outside the United States.
  • The event drew 67,678 fans to Toronto's SkyDome.

  • Allen was a roving interviewer and even joined the Bolsheviks in rehearsing the Russian National Anthem. Steve Allen was the original host of The Tonight Show. He also was the first to conduct “man on the street” interviews, which went on to become something that talk show hosts still do today. Allen was also a composer and wrote more than 7,000 songs and was a writer who wrote more than 50 books.
  • Barrett was a guest interviewer, who talked to Miss Elizabeth before her surprise appearance at WrestleMania VI. Rona Barrett was one of the most widely known celebrity gossip columnists at the time. With her experience, she was a perfect fit as an interviewer at WrestleMania VI.
  • Goulet sang O Canada to the 67,678 fans at the Toronto SkyDome to kick off WrestleMania VI. Goulet has a trademark baritone voice that has kept him in the music business for more than 50 years. Goulet has done it all from starring in movies to singing in lounges and headlining Las Vegas showrooms.
  • Moore, who sat ringside at the event, was one of the most famous television actresses of her time. She is best known for her work on the Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s and the Mary Tyler Moore Show in the 1970s.
