A two-day tournament will determine the first-ever NXT UK Women's Champion on Saturday August 25 and Sunday 26, 2018 at the NXT UK tapings at Insomnia, the U.K.’s biggest gaming festival, at NEC Birmingham.
The combatants battling to become the inaugural champion will include Toni Storm, Jinny, Isla Dawn, Millie McKenzie, Nina Samuels, Dakota Kai, Rhea Ripley and Xia Brookside.

On June 18, 2018, during the first night of the United Kingdom Championship Tournament, it was announced the creation of the NXT UK Women's Championship along with the United Kingdom Tag Team Championship. Afterwards, it was announced a two-day eight-woman single-elimination tournament to crown the inaugural champion during the tapings of NXT UK. The championship belt was later revealed on the August 25, tapings of NXT UK. The following day, the first NXT UK Women's Champion was crowned, with Rhea Ripley defeating Toni Storm in the tournament finals during tapings of NXT UK.
The championship belt design is nearly identical to the WWE United Kingdom Championship with the difference being that in the center plate the shield has the NXT UK logo instead of the WWE logo; atop the shield are the crown jewels and the belt as a yellow leather strap.
Like the WWE Championship belt and other belts introduced in 2016, the NXT UK Women's Championship belt features two side plates, both separated by gold divider bars, with removable round sections that can be replaced with the current champion's logo; the default plates feature the WWE logo on the globe.
