The WWE Performance Center is a professional wrestling school, as well as a training, sports science, and sports medical facility owned and operated by the WWE in Orlando, Florida, that opened July 11, 2013.
Background[]
The Performance Center serves as the new home to WWE's talent developmental system, NXT, and creates nearly 100 high-wage jobs in Orlando. With 26,000 square-feet, seven training rings, a world-class strength and conditioning program, and cutting-edge edit and production facilities, the new facility will give WWE the ability to train more potential performers through a comprehensive program including in-ring training, physical preparedness, and character development. The new facility will be the training ground for talent that includes former professional and collegiate athletes, Olympians and entertainers, and will offer a best-in-class sports medicine program creating a central location for all WWE talent to receive the best care both in and out of the ring. There will be also a voice over room that the talents plus the on air announcers can use to practice.
Leading up to the opening, the headquarters for WWE's former developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling, was officially shut down, as WWE transferred NXT Wrestling's headquarters to the Performance Center; ring equipment & other materials held at the FCW Arena in Tampa were broken down on June 28, 2013, and what is being kept by WWE was transferred to the new facility.
Ryan Katz (a.k.a. GQ Money) was hired to work as an associate producer at NXT. He noted on Twitter this week that he was unloading and setting up 33,000 pounds of weights and equipment.
Attending the opening was WWE executive Paul "Triple H" Levesque and Florida Governor Rick Scott. "I love anybody that brings jobs to our state," Scott said. "They have all this talent here. Everyone when they come here to work here, they want to stay here. Every job is important."
