The Vendetta Pro International Tag Team Championship is the primary Tag-Team Championship contested in Vendetta Pro Wrestling, and from December 2011 to January 2014 in All Pro Wrestling (along with the APW Tag Team Championship as the "Unified Tag-Team Championships"). The championship is generally contested in professional wrestling matches, in which participants execute scripted finishes rather than contend in direct competition.
History[]
The title made its first appearance at Summer Sizzle 2011 on July 16, 2011 as the Vendetta Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship when, prior to the beginning of the first match between Dos Perfectos and The Pinoy Boyz, Vendetta Pro official Joseph Duncan interrupted the announcement of the competitors. Making his way to the ring, Duncan was on a cell phone talking directly with the Commissioner of Vendetta Pro Wrestling, Christian Cole, who was unable to attend in person due to severe traffic problems created by a closure of California freeway 405. Duncan also had in his hands two Championship belts, and he informed ring announcer Donald DeNoyer that the Commissioner had ordered the 20-minute time limit waved for the match and that the match would crown the first-ever Vendetta Pro Wrestling Tag Team Championship.
On December 14, 2011, the title was co-branded as both a "Unified" Vendetta Pro Wrestling and All Pro Wrestling Championship title and was defended at events held by both promotions.[1] The final "Unified" Tag Team Champions were the team of Boyce LeGrande and Mustafa Saed. The title was "split" on January 1, 2014, with LeGrande & Mustafa retaining the APW Tag Team titles while the Vendetta Pro Tag Team titles were now vacant. However, it was also stated that the door is open for a potential reunification at a later date.
Dos Perfectos (Greg Hernandez 'Y' Jesse Jimenez), defeated The Pinoy Boyz (Aaron Solo & Kimo Kanaloa) to become the first-ever Champions. To date, they are still the longest reigning champions.
On July 15, 2014, Vendetta Pro Wrestling joined the National Wrestling Alliance. The Vendetta Pro Tag Titles were once again re-branded as the NWA/Vendetta Pro Western States Tag Team Championship, or NWA Western States Tag Team Championship for simplicity.
On August 2, 2014 at VendettaVersary, Sunami & Kadin Anthony—SU/KA—defeated The Ballard Brothers in a Steel Cage match to become new NWA Western States Tag Team Champions—the first to win the titles under the new branding. This was their second time as Tag Team Champions, becoming only the second team to hold the titles on multiple occasions—the first being The Ballard Brothers. However, Kadin Anthony would suffer severe injuries in that match, and would miss consecutive scheduled title defenses. Compounding the situation was Kadin Anthony's outright refusal to return to Vendetta Pro, forcing Vendetta Pro Wrestling Commissioner Joseph Duncan to strip him and Sunami of the titles. On September 12, 2014 at September To Remember V, Mario Banks and Mike Menace of Parental Discretion won the NWA Western States Tag Team Championship, defeating The Ballard Brothers for the vacated titles in what was originally schedluled to be a #1 Contenders Match. Parental Discretion, which operates as a three-man group, elected to invoke the "Freebird Rule", which allows for any two members of the group to defend the titles at any time. However, on December 26, 2014 at Winter Wonder Slam, Banks suffered injuries following an attack by The Classic Connection--Buddy Royal and Levi Shapiro—which has put him out of action, forcing Mike Menace to defend the title with Mike Rayne.
Due to both scheduling and internal conflicts within Parental Discretion, on May 16 2015, NWA Vendetta Commissioner Joseph Duncan was forced by the National Wrestling Alliance to crown "Interim" NWA Western States Tag Team Champions, while Parental Discretion would for the time being retain the Vendetta Pro Wrestling Tag Team titles. The Ballard Brothers won a four-way match at Melee 2015 against The Classic Connection (Buddy Roya & Levi Shapiro), The Von Dooms (Vintage Dragon & Cyanide) and The Excess Express (Alexander G. Bernard & Perry Von Vicious) for the Interim title. Duncan did state that Parental Discretion MUST immediately defend their Vendetta Pro Tag Team title against The Ballards at the next opportunity or be stripped of them. At Summer Sizzle 2015, they did just that, losing the Vendetta Pro Tag Team titles to The Ballards, making them the "undisputed" NWA Western States Tag Team Champions.
At Vendettaversary 2015 on August 8, 2015, The Ballards were to defend the NWA Western States Tag titles against The Von Dooms. However, The Classic Connection wanted in the mix, and would agree to put up their three titles--the APW Universal Tag Team title, PCW Tag Team title and FCW-LA Tag Team title--if The Von Dooms would agree to also put up their Apex Pro Tag Team titles, which they did so. Following the match, The Classic Connection held five separate Tag Team titles including the NWA Western States Tag Team Championship. They would be the first team to hold both the Tag Team title of Vendetta Pro and the Tag Team title of All Pro Wrestling since the split of the Unified Tag Team Championship.
