For the last two years, I have wanted Dixie Carter to somehow turn heel, and I had been hoping for that KNOWING how little she appears on TV. I originally wanted Dixie to be the mastermind who put Aces and Eights together in a revenge plot against Hulk Hogan, but TNA clearly didn't do that. When AJ Styles said that he planned to confront Dixie after winning the BFG series, I told someone on Twitter that I hoped that it would somehow lead to a heel turn for Dixie.
And I got my wish!
On September 19 of this year, Dixie made her LONG overdue turn into a villainess by chewing out AJ in venomous fashion; saying that the "Phenomenal One" gimmick was hers, he's lucky to be in her ring on her show, and if it wasn't for her daddy's money, he'd be in a trailer park somewhere. The piece de resistance was Dixie cutting off the lights and shutting down the show when AJ wasn't done talking! Oh boy!
Now, like I normally do when one of my favorite women of wrestling turns heel, I watched Dixie's heel turn on YouTube repeatedly. I also read the comments that basically said that she would be a terrible heel. I, on the other hand, LOVED Dixie's heel turn and I have said for a few years that I think she would be golden as an evil authority figure. And every week since, I've been proven right. Plus, Dixie is getting MASSIVE heat; I'm talking a Vickie Guerrero-level reaction!
When this started, people were saying that this was TNA's version of the current "Best For Business" angle, and it looked like it from the start, but after watching an exclusive video just now, it feels like it's similar to CM Punk's angle from 2011. And more evidence that Dixie's is doing well as a villainess is the fact that she already has her own t-shirt! I'm not making this up. I loved seeing the evil Dixie Carter get involved at BFG this past Sunday, but what I really want to see is her heel reaction to AJ as WHC on Impact this Thursday. I love Dixie's villainous character, and I hope it continues for as long as possible!
