History

Background

Formerly as their respective dancers for Fandango, Layla replaced Summer Rae which he announced the end of his association with Rae via Twitter, as Fandango's dancer and valet and quickly became embroiled in a feud with Emma and Santino Marella (in reality, this move was done to give Rae time off to film The Marine 4: Moving Target). In May, Layla entered a tournament to determine the new NXT Women's Champion, but lost to Natalya in the first round. Rae returned on 19 May, attacking Layla. Competing over Fandango's affections, Layla and Rae repeatedly attacked each other, prompting a match at Money in the Bank with Fandango as the special guest referee; Layla won the match.

Establishment as SLayers (2014-present)

During a rematch on the on the July 11 episode of SmackDown, Rae attacked Layla during the match between Fandango and Adam Rose, which Fandango lost via count-out. This would lead to a rematch between Rae and Layla later that night, with Fandango once again as the special guest referee. The match ended when both Rae and Layla attacked Fandango, ending Layla's relationship with him. They danced together in the ring. In their first match as a team, Rae and Layla lost to Paige and AJ Lee on the July 18 episode of Smackdown. Starting at Battleground, the two Divas would start their own alliance and would begin distracting Fandango during his matches to cause his losses. On the July 29 edition of Main Event, Layla and Rae would start refer themselves the SLayers.
