The Dirty Dawgz, were a professional wrestling tag team in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). They are former one-time WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions and former one-time WWE Raw Tag Team Champions.

History[]

After being randomly paired together by Paul Heyman on the August 26 episode of Raw, Dolph Ziggler teamed with Robert Roode to win a tag-team turmoil match to earn a Raw Tag Team Championship match at Clash of Champions. At the event, Ziggler and Roode won the titles from Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman. On the October 14 episode of Raw, Ziggler and Roode lost the titles to The Viking Raiders (Erik and Ivar), ending their reign at 29 days, and they were drafted to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2019 WWE Draft.

At Survivor Series, Ziggler and Roode won a 10-team Interbrand Tag Team Battle Royal. In the following weeks, they aligned themselves with King Corbin during his feud against Roman Reigns. On January 26, 2020, at the Royal Rumble, Roode entered the Royal Rumble match at number 4, but was eliminated by Brock Lesnar. Ziggler also entered at number 19, but was eliminated by Roman Reigns. At Super ShowDown, Ziggler suffered a loss to Mansoor. A week later at Elimination Chamber, Ziggler and Roode competed in the namesake match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, where the champions The Miz and John Morrison retained. On the June 22 episode of Raw, it was announced that Ziggler and Roode were traded to the Raw brand for AJ Styles. On that night, Ziggler issued a challenge to WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, which McIntyre accepted for The Horror Show at Extreme Rules. At the event on July 19, Ziggler failed to win the title.

As part of the 2020 Draft in October, both Ziggler and Roode were drafted back to the SmackDown brand. On the January 8, 2021 episode of SmackDown, Ziggler and Roode defeated The Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford) to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. On April 9, 2021, at WrestleMania SmackDown, Roode and Ziggler defeated Alpha Academy (Chad Gable & Otis), the team of Rey & Dominik Mysterio and The Street Profits in a Fatal 4-Way match to retain the titles. On the April 16 episode of Smackdown, Ziggler and Roode would have another successful title defense as they defeated The Street Profits. They lost the titles to Rey & Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania Backlash, ending their reign at 128 days.

On the May 28, 2021 episode of SmackDown, Ziggler & Roode challenged the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions, Rey & Dominik Mysterio. However, the match evolved into a handicap match after Rey was mysteriously attacked backstage, leaving his son to fend for himself. However, Dominik was able to hold his own, long enough for Rey to make his way out and distract Roode, allowing his son to roll up Roode for the win. Ziggler & Roode suffered another loss to the returning Street Profits on the August 6, 2021 episode of SmackDown.

Ziggler & Roode faced off against Rey & Dominik Mysterio again on the August 13, 2021 episode of SmackDown, but were defeated. On the October 1, 2021 episode of SmackDown, The Dirty Dawgz wrestled their final SmackDown match, teaming with Alpha Academy in a losing effort against The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) & The Street Profits in a Eight Man Tag Team Match, before being drafted back to Raw as part of the 2021 WWE draft. Ziggler & Roode made their Raw debut on the October 4, 2021 episode of Raw, interrupting Drew McIntyre's challenge to WWE Champion Big E. This lead to an impromptu tag team match, which The Dirty Dawgz lost.

Drew McIntyre & Big E defeated The Dirty Dawgz in a rematch on the October 18, 2021 episode of Raw. However, Ziggler & Roode were able to turn their luck around on the October 25, 2021 episode of Raw after they won a Fatal Four Way to earn a shot at the Raw Tag Team Championship, held by RK-Bro (Randy Orton & Riddle) later in the night, but when the time came, were unsuccessful in winning the title a second time. Ziggler & Roode were able to get back some momentum on the November 1, 2021 episode of Raw, defeating The Street Profits, with RK-Bro on commentary, after a distraction from Omos.

On the November 8, 2021 episode of Raw, Ziggler & Roode teamed with AJ Styles & Omos in a winning effort over RK-Bro & The Street Profits, however, a fight ignited between Roode and Styles. This set up a match between the Dirty Dawgz and Styles & Omos on the November 15, 2021 episode of Raw, which Ziggler & Roode lost. The Dirty Dawgz finally got their rematch with RK-Bro for the Raw Tag Team Championship on the November 29, 2021 episode of Raw, but came up short once again.

After Robert Roode unsuccessfully challenged Damian Priest for the WWE United States Championship, The Dirty Dawgz were able to pick up a win over Priest and Finn Bálor after capitalizing off a distraction from Austin Theory on the December 13, 2021 episode of Raw.
