Slammiversary was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Impact Wrestling. It took place on June 19, 2022 at the Nashville Fairgrounds in Nashville, Tennessee. It was the 18th event under the Slammiversary chronology.

Background[]

Slammiversary 2022 was announced during Rebellion 2022, with the date being revealed as June 19, 2022, along with commentator Tom Hannifan announcing Impact was going back home to Nashville, Tennessee. The event was the eighteenth edition of the annual Slammiversary pay-per-view, an event that celebrates the anniversary of Impact Wrestling.

Storylines[]

Following his victory over Impact Digital Media Champion Matt Cardona on May 28, 2022, Rich Swann left without the belt as a result of Cardona stealing the title. However, Cardona would suffer an injury, awarding the title to his ally Brian Myers. Myers would challenge Swann to a match at Slammiversary in order to decide the "real" champion.

On June 14, 2022, it was announced on Impact Wrestling's website that the Reverse Battle Royal would be making a return at Slammiversary.

It was announced on May 11, 2022, that the return of the Ultimate X Match at Slammiversary would see Austin Aries defend the Impact X Division Championship against five opponents. In the build-up to Slammiversary, a series of qualifying matches were held to determine competitors in the match, with Kenny King, Mike Bailey, and Trey Miguel all successfully qualifying. Jack Evans was revealed as the fourth participant in the match, while the final spot was taken by Alex Zayne after Ace Austin defected to BULLET CLUB at New Japan Pro Wrestling Best Of The Super Junior 29 - Night 13, assaulting Zayne backstage. However, Jack Evans was replaced by Andrew Everett after he suffered an injury before the event.

On the June 9, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, Rosemary was successful in defeating one half of the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Champions, Tenille Dashwood. However, following the match, Rosemary would be be of the receiving end of a beatdown from Dashwood and her partner Madison Rayne before Rosemary's former friend and enemy, Taya Valkyrie, made the save. As a result, it was announced that the two pairings would face off for the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship at Slammiversary.

Following his return at Under Siege 2022, Sami Callihan immediately attacked Moose, who had broken his leg the year before, with a baseball bat. Callihan promised to make Moose's life a living hell, constantly ambushing Moose, along with costing him a shot at the Impact World Championship in a Gauntlet For The Gold Match on the May 12, 2022 episode of iMPACT!. After Callihan locked Moose inside a dark storage room during a wild brawl between the two on the June 9, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, it was announced the two men would meet at Slammiversary in a Monster's Ball Match.

On the May 26, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) confronted the Impact World Tag Team Champions The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe), stating that they have never defeated the reigning champions, and could not declare themselves the greatest tag team in Impact until they did. The champions accepted the match, with Impact Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore making the match official for Slammiversary later in the night.

After Honor No More was informed on the May 26, 2022 episode of iMPACT! they could not face The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) due to them already being booked to challenge for the Impact World Tag Team Championship, Honor No More promised to not let anyone else get what they want. Later in the night, during a match between Chris Sabin and Frankie Kazarian, Honor No More hit the ring and began attacking both men, before the group was confronted backstage by Heath and Rhino. The following week, Honor No More members Matt Taven & Mike Bennett defeated Heath & Rhino before the rest of Honor No More swarmed the outnumbered Heath & Rhino, assaulting Rhino with steel chairs. However, Chris Sabin, Frankie Kazarian & Alex Shelley made the save. Sabin, Kazarian & Shelley quickly made it clear they wanted to face Honor No More, prompting Impact Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore to announce a five-on-five Honor No More vs. Impact Originals match for Slammiversary. The fourth member of the Impact Originals was revealed to be Nick Aldis on the June 16, 2022 episode of iMPACT!. The final member of the Impact Originals was not revealed until before the match at Slammiversary, where Dixie Carter announced the final member to be Honor No More leader Eddie Edwards's former tag team partner, Davey Richards.

Knockouts Division Executive Gail Kim announced on the May 12, 2022 episode of iMPACT! that Tasha Steelz would defend the Impact Knockouts Championship at Slammiversary against Chelsea Green, Jordynne Grace, Deonna Purrazzo, and Mia Yim in the first ever Queen of the Mountain Match. It was later announced on June 10 that Mickie James would be the special guest enforcer for the match.

On the May 12, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, a Gauntlet For The Gold Match was held, which Violent By Design leader Eric Young won after pinning Chris Sabin. Following his victory, Young become the number one contender to the Impact World Championship, set to face champion Josh Alexander at Slammiversary.
