Shun Skywalker

Shun Watanabe (May 30, 1996) is a Japanese professional wrestler under the ring name Shun Skywalker. He also wrestles for a number of independent promotions.

Career[]

Watanabe made his professional wrestling debut on December 21, 2015, in a dark match for Dragon Gate, wrestling Futa Nakamura to a time limit draw. On April 22, 2016, Watanabe faced Big R Shimizu in a losing effort in his first non-dark match. In November, Watanabe began competing under the name Shun Skywalker. Skywalker made his debut for All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) on July 29, 2018, taking part in an Eight Man Tag Team Match. The following month, Skywalker competed in AJPW's Junior Tag Battle of Glory alongside Masaaki Mochizuki. Skywalker and Mochizuki finished third with six points, failing to make the final.

In January 2019, Skywalker won Dragon Gate's Rookie Ranking Tournament after defeating Kaito Ishida in the final. On March 3, Skywalker challenged Open The Gream Gate Champion PAC, but was unsuccessful. From December 2019 to September 2020, Skywalker wrestled for a number of Mexican promotions. On November 15, 2020, Skywalker returned to Dragon Gate, defeated Eita to win the Open The Dream Gate Championship. After 259 days as champion, Skywalker was dethroned by YAMATO on August 1, 2021. Later that year, on December 15, Skywalker partnered with Jason Lee and Kota Minoura to win the Open The Triangle Gate Championship from Eita, H.Y.O and Kaito Ishida. However, Skywalker, Lee and Minoura would lose the championship in a rematch on January 12, 2022. Skywalker won his next Dragon Gate championship on May 5, partnering with Diamante to win the Open The Twin Gate Championship from Dragon Dia and Yuki Yoshioka. On July 30, Jacky Funky Kamei and Jason Lee defeated Skywalker and Diamante, ending their 86 day reign.

At Victory Lap on September 17, Skywalker made his debut for DEADLOCK Pro-Wrestling (DPW), winning a Three Way Match against Jack Evans and SB KENTo. The following day, Skywalker made his debut for Major League Wrestling (MLW), winning the MLW World Middleweight Championship from Myron Reed. Skywalker made his Game Changer Wrestling (GCW) debut in a victory over Nick Wayne at Fight Club - Night 1. At Fight Club - Night 2, Skywalker was defeated by Blake Christian. Skywalker competed in DPW's Carolina Classic tournament, but was eliminated by Andrew Everett in the first round. On October 30, Skywalker lost the MLW World Middleweight Championship to Lince Dorado. Returning to Japan on November 6, Skywalker teamed up with Ishin Iihashi and KAI to win the Open The Triangle Gate Championship for a second time.
