Background[]

On October 25, 2022, Impact Wrestling announced that the 14th Sacrifice event would take place on March 24, 2023, at St. Clair College in Windsor, Ontario, Canada.

Storylines[]

After failing to win the Impact World Championship at Bound for Glory on October 7, 2022, Eddie Edwards would return on the October 20 episode of iMPACT!. Edwards would confront his group, Honor No More, singling out PCO and questioning his loyalty. PCO would snap before attacking Edwards and the rest of Honor No More. On the November 3 episode of iMPACT!, soon after the disbandment of Honor No More, Edwards and PCO would brawl in the Las Vegas desert, where Edwards buried PCO. At Hard to Kill on January 13, 2023, PCO would return, attacking Edwards with a shovel. On the March 9 episode of iMPACT!, PCO met Edwards in the desert again, however, PCO would be run over by a car. The following week, Edwards would declare his feud with PCO to be over, unaware that PCO was still searching for him. PCO would head out to confront Edwards, but was attacked by former Honor No More stablemate Kenny King. With King the prime suspect for the hit and run, a match between PCO and King was made official for Sacrifice.

On the November 10, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, Brian Myers lost his Digital Media Championship to Joe Hendry. Hendry then went on to feud against Moose and The Major Playerz (Matt Cardona and Myers). On the March 9, 2023 episode of iMPACT!, Moose and Myers would blindside Hendry backstage, with Myers claiming the Digital Media Championship belonged to him. As a result, due to Myers never having a rematch after losing the title, Hendry would invoke Myers' rematch clause for him, making a match between the two official for Sacrifice.

At No Surrender's pre-show on February 24, Deonna Purrazzo would lose to Gisele Shaw following interference from Jai Vidal and Savannah Evans. On the March 9 episode of iMPACT!, Purrazzo would prevent Shaw from beating Knockouts Champion Mickie James. As a result, it was announced that Purrazzo and Shaw would face off in a rematch at Sacrifice.

Also at the No Surrender pre-show, Jonathan Gresham would defeat Mike Bailey. On the March 16 episode of iMPACT!, Gresham and Bailey would team up to defeat Black Taurus and Crazzy Steve. Later that night, Bailey would challenge Gresham to a match at Sacrifice, which Gresham accepted.

Following his attack on Josh Alexander at Over Drive on November 18, 2022, Bully Ray would become embroiled in a feud with his former friend Tommy Dreamer. Over the following months, Ray and Dreamer would take shots at each other. At No Surrender on February 24, Ray and Dreamer would share their grievances on a live episode of Busted Open Radio. However, Ray would throw coffee in Dreamer's face before hitting him with the coffee pot. Later, Dreamer would challenge Ray to a Busted Open Match at Sacrifice, which was made official.

With KUSHIDA set to challenge Impact World Champion Josh Alexander at Multiverse United on March 30, it was announced that KUSHIDA and The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) would face Alexander, Rich Swann, and Frankie Kazarian in a Six Man Tag Team Match at Sacrifice. However, it was announced soon before Sacrifice that Alexander had suffered a triceps tear and would require surgery. As a result, the Impact World Championship was vacated. Furthermore, it was revealed that Steve Maclin would take Alexander's place at the event.

At Hard to Kill on January 13, Mickie James would win the Impact Knockouts Championship after beating Jordynne Grace in a Title vs. Career Match. On the March 9 episode of iMAPCT!, it was announced Grace would invoke her rematch clause to face James at Sacrifice. However, before the event, it was announced that James was unable to compete due to an injury. It was further announced that at Sacrifice, the title situation would be addressed.
