Royal Rumble 1996 was the ninth annual Royal Rumble professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place on January 21, 1996 at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California.

The main event was The Undertaker versus Bret Hart for the WWF Championship. Featured matches on the undercard were the 1996 Royal Rumble match which was won by Shawn Michaels, who last eliminated Diesel to win the match, making it his second Royal Rumble win, Goldust versus Razor Ramon for the WWF Intercontinental Championship and The Smoking Gunns (Billy and Bart) versus The Bodydonnas (Skip and Zip) for the WWF Tag Team Championship.

• Helmsley was disqualified for using brass knuckles.
• The winner of this match got to enter the Rumble at #30, while the loser had to enter at spot #1.

• Ahmed Johnson defeated Jeff Jarrett (6:40)

• Jarrett was disqualified for jumping off the top rope, hitting Johnson with his guitar.

• WWF World Tag Team Championship The Smoking Gunns (Bart & Billy Gunn) defeated The Body Donnas (Skip & Zip)(w/Sunny) (11:14)

• Bart pinned Zip after Billy helped reverse a double suplex on Bart to a small package.

• Goldust(w/Marlena) defeated Razor Ramon for the WWF Intercontinental Championship (14:17)

• Goldust pinned Ramon after The 1-2-3 Kid came out and hit him with a spinning heel kick while Marlena distracted the referee.

• Shawn Michaels won the Royal Rumble (58:49)

• The Undertaker(w/Percy Pringle) defeated Bret Hart] by DQ for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship (28:31)

• Hart was disqualified after Diesel came out and pulled Earl Hebner out of the ring while he was making the 3-count for Undertaker.
