Storylines[]
At Final Battle on December 10, 2022, The Briscoe Brothers (Jay and Mark Briscoe) won the ROH World Tag Team Championship after defeating FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) in a Double Dog Collar Match. However, on January 17, Jay was killed in a car crash. On the March 10 episode of Rampage, following various tributes for Jay, the ROH World Tag Team Championship was officially vacated. It was later announced that new champions would be crowned in a Reach For The Sky Ladder Match at Supercard of Honor.
On the March 9 episode of ROH Wrestling, Wheeler Yuta defeated Timothy Thatcher to retain the ROH Pure Championship. After the bout, Yuta would call out New Japan Pro Wrestling's LA Dojo, only to be confronted by LA Dojo graduate Clark Connors. The following week, Yuta defeated Connors to retain the Pure Championship. After, Yuta would call out LA Dojo head trainer Katsuyori Shibata, challenging him to a match at Supercard of Honor. It was later made official that Yuta would defend his Pure Championship against Shibata at the event.
On the March 9 episode of ROH Wrestling, Samoa Joe defeated Tony Deppen to retain the ROH World Television Championship. After, Joe presented an open challenge. The challenge would be answered by Mark Briscoe and thus, it was later made official that Joe would defend against Briscoe at Supercard of Honor.
Across multiple weeks on AEW Dark and AEW Dark: Elevation, ROH Women's World Champion Athena's post-match attacks would be thwarted by Yuka Sakazaki. On the January 30 episode of Dark: Elevation, Athena and Sakazaki met in tag team action, where Sakazaki and Skye Blue defeated Athena and Diamante. On the March 16 episode of ROH Wrestling, Athena would challenge Sakazaki to a match at Supercard of Honor. Two weeks later, Athena successfully defended her title against Emi Sakura before Sakazaki would foil Athena's post-match attack. A championship bout between Athena and Sakazaki was then made official for Supercard of Honor.
On the June 29, 2022 episode of AEW Dynamite, Claudio Castagnoli and Eddie Kingston took part in the Blood and Guts Match as a part of the team opposing The Jericho Appreciation Society. Castagnoli would have Matt Menard in a hold while Kingston had Chris Jericho in a hold. Menard would submit first and as a result, Kingston claimed Castagnoli had stolen the win from him. On the March 2 episode of ROH Wrestling, Kingston would confront Castagnoli and challenge him to a match for his ROH World Championship. Two weeks later, Kingston faced off against Jeeves Kay. During the match, Kingston threw Kay into Castagnoli, who was watching the match at ringside, spilling Claudio's coffee.
