Queensland is a state that occupies the Northeastern part of Australia. It is the second largest division in Australia and the third most populated. Queensland's capital city is Brisbane. In June 2020, the estimated population of Queensland was 5,184,847. Over 3.5 Million of the Territory's population lives in the area known South East Queensland.
Queensland was first seen by Europeans in the 1606 when the Dutch landed at the Cape York Peninsula area. It was not formally claimed by a European power until 1770 when Captain Cook claimed it for Great Brittan. Modern Day it has the 3rd strongest economy of Australian divisions with its strength levied out over many different sectors such as mining and tourism.
