The Pure Wrestling Association debuted on July 22, 2005 in Goderich, Ontario Canada. This event saw the crowning of the Pure Wrestling (Reggie Marley) and Pure Violence (Buck 10) Champions. On July 31 the PWA ran its second show, this one took place in Cambridge, Ontario and the Internet Championship (Elian Habanero) was determined. The PWA ran four more events in 2005 in the towns of Godrich and Cambridge. On October 15 the PWA hosted an all ladies event and crowned an Elite 8 Cup Winner in Misty Haven who beat the 21st Century Fox in the Finals.

In 2006 the PWA ran an event called Holiday Hangover on January 1 in Cambridge, Ontario. This event crowned the first Elite Women's (21st Century Fox) Champion as well as Tagteam (Pantalone/Phil Latio) Champions. That evening the PWA held a 40 Man Over the Top Rumble that the winner (Sean Ball) received a Golden Ticket (A Championship Title shot he could use at any time until the next Golden Ticket Rumble)

PWA ran 50 events in 2006. Towns such as Cambridge, Goderich, Niagara Falls, New Market, Brantford, Guelph, Port Colbourne, and Kitchener where ran.

2007 the PWA ran weekly events in Cambridge and Brantford for several months. This was also the year the PWA ran its first event in British Columbia. In Esquimalt, BC the Coastal Mountains Championship was created and won by Lak Siddartha. Real soon after it was renamed to the British Columbia Championship.

In 2008 PWA started the year with weekly events in Cambridge, Ontario. PWA also ran events in Fergus, Ontario, Milton, Ontario, Hamilton, Ontario, Kitchener, Ontario and Brantford, Ontario.

2009 was the year the Ontario Championship was created. Shawn "Ice" Lafluer defeated Eddie Osbourne in the finals of a 16-man tournament that spanded over several months in PWA's bi-weekly Hamilton events. This was also the year Geza Kalman won the Pure Wrestling Championship.

2010 Geza retained the PWA Pure Wrestling Championship until he went under the knife to unclog/block 8 arteries to his heart. Super Kamikaze defeated Turcan Celik to become the new Champion on November 7, at the first annual Bigg Dawg Geza Kalman Classic.

Presently in 2011 the PWA is running events in Cambridge, Guelph, Ingersoll and Kitchener, Ontario. Reggie Marley won his 6th reign as Pure Wrestling Champion in Ingersoll on February 27.
