Orville Brown (March 10, 1908 - January 24, 1981) was the first to hold the NWA World Heavyweight Championship on January 5, 1948. Brown's professional wrestling career ended on November 1, 1949, when he suffered severe injuries in an automobile accident to which he had to vacate the championship.
