Background
The Vengeance event was initially established as a pay-per-view (PPV) for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in 2001. Vengeance was held annually until 2007 and was brought back as a one-off event in 2011. The event was revived for WWE's developmental brand NXT in 2021 as TakeOver: Vengeance Day, a nod to the event being held around Valentine's Day. The event continued to be held annually in NXT, being known simply as Vengeance Day after the conclusion of TakeOver events.
On November 27, 2023, it was announced that the fourth NXT Vengeance Day event would take place on February 4, 2024, at the F&M Bank Arena in Clarksville, Tennessee.

At Deadline on December 9, 2023, Trick Williams emerged victorious in the Men's Iron Survivor Challenge, earning a future NXT Championship opportunity.
