NXT Roadblock 2023

NXT Roadblock was a special episode of World Wrestling Entertainment's NXT television series that took place on March 7, 2023 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Background[]

On March 12, 2016, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) held the first Roadblock event. Later that year, on December 18, WWE held Roadblock: End of the Line. After this, Roadblock would be discontinued until 2022, when it was revived for a special episode of NXT on March 8. On February 14, 2023, it was announced that NXT would hold the second Roadblock special episode on March 7.

Storylines[]

At NXT Vengeance Day, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne were defeated by NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez in a Triple Threat Match. On the February 7 episode of NXT, Bayley hosted her Ding Dong! Hello talk show, with Dolin and Jayne as guests. Bayley would question what happened between the two at Vengeance Day, which lead to Dolin and Jayne blaming each other. Soon after, Jayne would attack Dolin, ending their partnership. Thanks to the attack, Toxic Attraction was ended, and as a result, it was announced that Dolin and Jayne would face off at Roadblock.

After a back and forth between Dijak and Tony D'Angelo spanning multiple weeks, D'Angelo would challenge Dijak to a Jailhouse Street Fight on the February 21 episode of NXT. Dijak would accept the following week, making the match official for Roadblock.

On the February 7 episode of NXT, NXT Women's Champion Roxanne Perez was confronted by Katana Chance and Kayden Carter. Perez was then backed up by Meiko Satomura. The following week, Perez and Satomura defeated Chance and Carter in tag team competition. After the match, Satomura challenged Perez to a match for the NXT Women's Championship, which was made official for Roadblock.

On the February 21 episode of NXT, Bron Breakker defended the NXT Championship against Jinder Mahal. During the bout, Indus Sher (Sanga and Veer Mahaan) attempted to interfere, but were stopped by The Creed Brothers (Brutus and Julius Creed), who had their own problems with Indus Sher. The following week, Breakker declared he would be willing to partner up with The Creeds. As a result, it was announced that Breakker and The Creed Brothers would face Mahal and Indus Sher at Roadblock.
