NJPW New Year Dash !! 2023 was a professional wrestling event promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The event took place on January 5, 2023 in Tokyo, Japan at the Ota City General Gymnasium. It was the ninth New Year Dash event. It was broadcast on NJPW World and Abema TV.

Background[]
The first New Year Dash event was held on January 5, 2014, the day following that year's Wrestle Kingdom. New Year Dash was then held each year on January 5 until 2020. Due to Wrestle Kingdom expanding to two nights, both the 2020 and 2021 New Year Dash were held on January 6. New Year Dash was not held in 2022, however, with the return to a single night Wrestle Kingdom in 2023, New Year Dash returned on January 5.
Storylines[]
Heading into the 2023 New Year Dash, the card, except for one match, was unknown. Rather, the matches became known as the wrestlers made their entrances. The only match that was confirmed before the show was a Four Way Match to crown the first Provisional KOPW Champion of 2023. The match included Shingo Takagi, Great-O-Khan, SHO, and Toru Yano, who had qualified by winning the New Japan Rambo Match the previous night, at Wrestle Kingdom 17.
