NJPW-Stardom Historic X-Over was a professional wrestling event co-promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and Stardom. The event took place on November 20, 2022 in Tokyo, Japan at the Ariake Arena. It was broadcast on NJPW World.

Background[]
On June 6, 2022, it was announced during Bushiroad's 15th anniversary press conference that an event co-promoted by New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and Stardom would take place on November 20 at the Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan. On July 29, the creation of the IWGP Women's Championship was announced, a title that would be primarily defended at NJPW events.
Storylines[]
At Battle Autumn - Night 9, Toru Yano defeated Great-O-Khan in an NJPW WORLD Television Championship Tournament First Round Match after Great Muta misted O-Khan. During a backstage interview, Muta expressed his intention to partner with Yano and Kazuchika Okada to take on Great-O-Khan and his stable, United Empire. As a result, a Six Man Tag Team Match was made official for Historic X-Over.
On July 29, 2022, a tournament to crown an inaugural IWGP Women's Champion was announced, with the final taking place at Historic X-Over. Representatives from each stable in Stardom took part in a lottery to determine the participants in the Stardom bracket, while Ava White, Jazzy Gabert, and Kairi were announced for the international bracket. First round matches took place on October 2 and 22, while Kairi recieved a bye. The semifinals took place on October 23, which saw Mayu Iwatani and Kairi advance to the final.
Following Will Ospreay's victory over Tetsuya Naito to retain the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship at Battle Autumn - Night 16, Ospreay would issue an open challenge for Historic X-Over. A returning Shota Umino would answer, attacking Ospreay and his United Empire stablemates, setting up a match between them.
