Mornington is an urban area on the western beach of the northern Mornington Peninsula only 13km from the edge of the metropolitan area of Melbourne, Victoria. It is the most populous centre in the Shire of Mornington Peninsula. At the 2011 Census Mornington had a population of 22,421. Mornington is the last main locality on the main road from Melbourne to Portsea before reaching the southern urban region of the Peninsula.
