Mizusawa was a city located in Iwate Prefecture, Japan. It was home to one of the six primary International Latitude Observatory locations which were used to study the earths wobble from various points around the world. The town as was founded on April 1, 1889 and in 2006 it, along with other nearby towns and cities merged to create the city of Ōshū.
