Los Boricuas was a Puerto Rican professional wrestling faction in the World Wrestling Federation in the late 1990s. The name was derived from a popular nickname for Puerto Rican people.
Members[]
- Miguel Perez, Jr. son of Miguel Perez.
- Jose Estrada, Jr. son of former WWF Jr Heavyweight champion Jose Estrada.
- Jesus Castillo son of Hurricane Castillo.
- Savio Vega (group leader).
Career[]
The stable was led by Savio Vega. The faction formed after he was fired from the Nation of Domination. Los Boricuas lasted from June 1997 to October 1998.
Los Boricuas feuded with other stables including the Nation of Domination and the Disciples of Apocalypse. During WrestleMania XIV's tag team Battle Royal, Los Boricuas engaged two teams (Savio and Miguel, and José and Jesús), fighting on Raw is War.
Vega left the group in July and would return to a singles career before returning to Puerto Rico to work for WWE developmental territory in the summer of 1998.
Perez, Castillo, & Estrada continued on as tag team until October 1998 and were regulars on WWF SuperAstros, until the show ended in August 1999, and all three remaining members of Los Boricuas were released by the WWF.
All members of The Boricuas, including Vega, reformed in 2001 for International Wrestling Association (Puerto Rico).
