Lightning Express was a professional wrestling tag team consisting of Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner. They were active for over 10 years in a variety of territories but most notably in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). They also went by the names The Invisible Express, White Lightning, and by just their individual names.

History[]

National Wrestling Alliance (1984-1988)[]

Brad Armstrong and Tim Horner began teaming together in 1984, competing in the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). The pair, dubbed the Lightning Express, won the NWA National Tag Team Championship from The Hollywood Blonds (Rip Rogers and Ted Oates) on September 21, 1984. However, the Lightning Express had to vacate the championship soon after due to Horner suffering an injury. The pair would split up before reforming in Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP) in 1986, beginning a feud with NWA United States Tag Team Champions The Russians (Ivan Koloff and Krusher Kruschev). Following their stint in JCP, the Lightning Express would begin competing in the Universal Wrestling Federation (UWF). On May 17, 1987, Armstrong and Horner won the UWF Tag Team Championship from Rick Steiner and Sting. Following Jim Crockett, Jr.'s purchase of the UWF, the Lightning Express began wrestling for JCP again. The Lightning Express lost the UWF Tag Team Championship on October 16, 1987, following a loss to The Sheepherders (Butch Miller and Luke Williams). Armstrong and Horner continued to partner until splitting up again in 1988.

World Championship Wrestling (1990-1991)[]

In July 1990, Armstrong and Horner reformed their partnership in World Championship Wrestling (WCW), defeating The Four Horsemen (Arn Anderson and Barry Windham) by DQ on the July 28, 1990 episode of WCW Saturday Night. Following a DQ win over The Midnight Express (Bobby Eaton and Stan Lane), the Lightning Express were defeated by The Master Blasters (Master Blaster Iron and Master Blaster Steele) at Clash of the Champions XII. Following the loss, Armstrong and Horner would not team up again until November. The Lightning Express regularly competed in early 1991 before failing to win the WCW World Tag Team Championship on February 26, their final match in WCW for four years.

Brief return to World Championship Wrestling (1995)[]

On February 3, 1995, Armstrong and Horner made their return as a team, suffering a loss to the The Blue Bloods (Earl Robert Eaton and Lord Steven Regal). Armstrong and Horner wrestled their last match as a team on April 13, scoring a victory over Jim Rogers and Tony Vincent.
