Summary[]
Bayley played puppet master for another showdown, this time pitting Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross against each other for a SmackDown Women’s Championship opportunity. Cross came in nursing cracked ribs from Bayley’s use of Banks' Boss Time rings during their championship clash. Bliss targeted the ribs of her friend throughout the match, but Cross showed grit and battled back time and again. As the referee checked on the hurt Superstar after she missed a crossbody off the top rope, Cross capitalized by surprising Bliss with a roll-up to clinch the win. Now, Cross gets a chance to redeem herself after losing to Bayley at The Horror Show at WWE Extreme Rules, while questions start to swirl about the future of her partnership with Bliss.
After falling short in his first blue brand title opportunity when he challenged AJ Styles for the Intercontinental Championship, Matt Riddle got back on track against Tony Nese. The Original Bro came out as the aggressor, showing off his strength in an efficient win over The Premier Athlete. After the final bell, Riddle called out King Corbin in an attempt to stand up to the blue brand bully after last week’s attack. Corbin responded by offering a King's Ransom to anyone who could show the newcomer that he doesn't belong on SmackDown. Nese tried to cash in, but Riddle was ready for him. Who will be the next Superstar to take up Corbin’s offer?
A quartet of SmackDown Superstars sought a breakthrough win and an Intercontinental Title opportunity as Gran Metalik, Lince Dorado, Shorty G and Drew Gulak met in a Fatal 4-Way Match. The Lucha House Party teammates used their chemistry to their advantage early, but a daring moonsault off the top rope by Shorty G reset the clash. Dorado was on the cusp of a victory when his own tag team partner Gran Metalik broke up the pin. After a chaotic aerial sequence, The King of the Ropes took to the skies and pinned Shorty G to secure the championship match. After the match, Styles tried to teach Lucha House Party a lesson, but the high-flying duo sent The Phenomenal One scrambling from the ring.
Jeff Hardy and Sheamus tried matches, toasts and brawls to settle their heated rivalry. On Friday Night SmackDown, the two decided to battle in a Bar Fight to try to finally ring in closing time on the tensions. The Celtic Warrior pummeled Hardy throughout the bar with keg attacks, urinal flushes, and a toss into the bandstand. After Sheamus broke a barstool on Hardy's back, the towering Superstar took a second to gloat with a sudsy cheers instead of finishing off his opponent for good. The reprieve allowed Hardy to channel The Charismatic Enigma, and a daring Swanton Bomb off a ladder gave Hardy a win over Sheamus and his demons.
