Samantha De Martin (August 17, 1996), better known by her ring name Indi Hartwell, is an Australian professional wrestler currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) performing on the NXT brand. In NXT Hartwell is a member of The Way. She is a former one-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion with Candice LeRae.
Professional wrestling career
Early career (2016–2019)
Hartwell made her in-ring debut in 2016, wrestling in her home country of Australia across several promotions. Her matches on the Australian circuit included Riot City Wrestling, Newcastle Pro Wrestling and Battle Championship Wrestling. She became the Women's Champion in all three promotions. Hartwell also became the Women's Champion in Australia's World Series Wrestling promotion, after defeating future Impact Wrestling Knockout Jordynne Grace at the WSW International Assault Zero Fear event.
American promotions (2017–2020)
Hartwell began wrestling internationally in America, beginning in 2017. Her appearances included matches for SHIMMER Women Athletes, where her first match was against future Impact Wrestling Knockout Tessa Blanchard. She also wrestled in RISE, WrestleCon, Zelo Pro Wrestling, and WWE Hall of Famer Booker T's Reality Of Wrestling among many others.
World Wrestling Entertainment (2019–present)
NXT (2019–present)
On November 5, 2019, it was reported Hartwell signed a WWE contract. On January 15, 2020, episode of NXT, she made her NXT debut participating in the Number One Contender Battle Royal for the NXT Women's Championship, in which she lost. She would make an appearance on April 20, episode of Raw in a lost by referee decision against Shayna Baszler after Baszler injured her arm. Following the match, Baszler sandwiched her arm in a ladder.
On July 15, 2020, episode of NXT, Hartwell picked up her first televised win against Shotzi Blackheart. On October 7, episode of NXT, A storyline began where Hartwell gave a brand new television to the Garganos with a USB in the package, when she was seen assisting Candice LeRae in the Number One Contender Battle for the NXT Women's Championship at NXT TakeOver 31 on September 23. On NXT: Halloween Havoc, a masked figure wearing the Ghostface costume was seen assisting LeRae during her NXT Women's Championship match against Io Shirai but was fended off by the host of the event, Shotzi Blackheart. On November 11, episode of NXT, it was revealed that Hartwell was the masked figure, aligning with LeRae in the process. On December 9, episode of NXT, Johnny Gargano revealed that he had formed a faction with Candice LeRae, Austin Theory and Hartwell called The Way.
On January 22, 2021 episode of 205 Live, Hartwell and LeRae defeated the team of Cora Jade and Gigi Dolin in the quarterfinals of the |Women's Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Tournament, which marked the first time that a women's match has ever taken place in the brand's history. On February 10 episode of NXT, they were eliminated by Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart in the semi-finals of the tournament. On April 8, at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver, Hartwell and LeRae challenged Moon and Blackheart for the NXT Women's Tag Team Championship in a losing effort. On the May 4 episode of NXT, The Way won the NXT Women's Tag Team titles from Shotzi Blackheart & Ember Moon in a street fight. Their reign ended at NXT: The Great American Bash where The Way was defeated by the team of Io Shirai and Zoey Stark.
EVOLVE (2020)
Due to WWE's business relationship with EVOLVE, Hartwell debuted on January 17 at EVOLVE 143, where she defeated local Florida wrestler Brandi Lauren.
