Impact Wrestling Rebellion 2021 was a professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by Impact Wrestling. It took place on April 25, 2021 at Skyway Studios in Nashville, Tennessee.

Production[]

Storylines[]

The card included matches that resulted from scripted storylines, where wrestlers portrayed faces, heels, or less distinguishable characters to build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches, with results predetermined by Impact Wrestling writers, while storylines are produced on their weekly television program, Impact!.

At AEW Winter Is Coming, Impact EVP Don Callis helped Kenny Omega win the AEW World Championship from Jon Moxley, before the pair fled Daily's Place to Skyway Studios for an Impact! taping. The following Tuesday on Impact, Callis and Omega would arrive in a tour bus, discussing the 27-year plan they had to take over the wrestling business. Callis would also intrigue Omega with the prospect of challenging for Impact titles, with Omega dubbing himself "The Collector". After several appearneces on Impact, Omega would make his Impact in-ring debut at Hard To Kill. He would team with Impact World Tag Team Champions The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) to defeat Impact World Champion Rich Swann, Chris Sabin, and self-proclaimed TNA World Heavyweight Champion Moose (subbing for Alex Shelley). On the March 8 episode of Impact, EVP Scott D'Amore announced that Omega will wrestle in the main event of Rebellion in a title vs. title match. He would face the winner of a championship unification match between Rich Swann and Moose, which would take place at Sacrifice. Swann won the match, making the match Swann vs. Omega for the Impact and AEW World Championships.

Event[]

The first match of the night saw the Impact X Division Champion Ace Austin accompanied by Madman Fulton put his title on the line against Josh Alexander and TJP in a triple threat match. The end came when Alexander pinned Ace after hitting his finisher, the Divine Intervention, thus becoming the new champion.

The second match was an eight man tag team match between Team Impact (Chris Sabin, Eddie Edwards, James Storm & Willie Mack) and Violent By Design (Deaner, Joe Doering, Rhino & a mystery competitor). Before the match started, the leader of VbD Eric Young announced the last member of his team, the debuting W. Morrisey. VbD dominated the early goings, but it eventually turned into a competitive matchup. The climax happened when Sabin hit Deaner with a Superplex to the outside into all the other competitors. Morrisey got the win for his team after hitting the East River Crossing on Willie Mack.

Next was a singles match between longtime friends Brian Myers and Matt Cardona. Myers dominated the first half of the match using dirty tactics. Cardona hit Myers with his finisher, the Radio Silence, on the steel ramp, and damaged his leg in the process. After Myers got a near fall off a Heat Seeking Elbow, Cardona went for another Radio Silence, but Myers countered it, causing him to land awkwardly and hurt his leg. The referee checked on Cardona and considered ending the match, but Myers offered to help him up, just to then blast him with the Roster Cut lariat. A second Roster Cut got the win for Myers.

Up next was a match for the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship between champions Fire 'N Flava (Kiera Hogan & Tasha Steelz) and challengers Jordynne Grace & Rachael Ellering accompanied to the ring by the recently retired Jazz. Both teams dominated portions of the match, with Grace and Ellering using their brute strength while Tasha and Kiera used cheap tactics. A highlight of the match was when Grace threw Tasha over the top rope, and on her way down, she hit Ellering with a Cutter into the apron. Ellering pinned Kiera with a fisherman's Spinebuster, capturing the championship for her team.

The next match was a Last Man Standing Match between Sami Callihan and Trey Miguel. Sami dominated the match from the get go after slamming Trey over the ropes into the floor. Sami hit several dangerous moves such as a powerbomb into a container, an avalanche piledriver into a table and a piledriver on the steps, but Trey was the one to stand tall in the end as he hit a cutter off the apron through a table, from which Sami couldn't get up.

Next, The Good Brothers (Karl Anderson & Doc Gallows) challenged FinJuice(David Finlay & Juice Robinson) for the Impact World Tag Team Championship. Juice countered the Magic Killer and rolled up Gallows with a Small Package to retain the title.

The second to last match of the night saw Deonna Purrazzo (with Kimber Lee & Susan) defend the Impact Knockouts Championship against Tenille Dashwood(With Kaleb with a K). Deonna tried to wear down Dashwood with submission holds, but she was still able to hit several high impact moves, such as the Tarantula, a butterfly suplex, two corner crossbodies, and even her old finisher, the Muta Lock. The end nearly came when Dashwood nailed the Spotlight Kick, but Kimber Lee pulled her out of the ring. Deonna hit the Queen's gambit to win the match by pinfall and retain the championship. After the match, Deonna and her lackeys tried to attack Dashwood but Taylor Wilde returned to the company after 10 long years and fended them off!

The main event was a title for title match between Unified Impact World champion Rich Swann (with Eddie Edwards & Willie Mack) and AEW World champion Kenny Omega (with The Good Brothers & Don Callis). To make sure the match was officiated fairly, referees from both promotions were present: Impact's Brian Hebner and AEW's Aubrey Edwards. Early in the match, Omega attempted a back body drop into the apron and Swann tried to counter with a handstand, but botched it and fell on his head. This bump visibly took a toll on Swann thorough the match, but he still landed plenty of offense. Omega won the match by hitting the One Winged Angel.
