The IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship is a championship in International Wrestling Association Puerto Rico (IWA-Puerto Rico).

History[]

The championship originated in International Wrestling Association Puerto Rico (IWA-Puerto Rico) on October 13, 2008 after it was announced that a new championship, dubbed the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship, would be created to represent the Caribbean Islands. However, it was not until February 14, 2009 that Richard Rondon won a Tornado Rumble Match to become the inaugural champion. On February 26, 2011 the title was unified with the IWA Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship after Caribbean Champion Xix Xavant defeated Puerto Rican Champion Damian. The IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship would eventually be separated from the IWA Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship, before the championship was deactivated on June 16, 2012 as IWA-PR began a seven year absence.

The inactive championship was revived by Major League Wrestling (MLW) in 2019, with Savio Vega with the championship named the Caribbean Heavyweight Championship due to the title not being sanctioned by MLW in storyline, however, the championship would later be sanctioned by the company as the MLW Caribbean Heavyweight Championship.

In 2023 the championship was returned to IWA-Puerto Rico and became the IWA Caribbean Heavyweight Championship once again.
