Golden is the Home Rule Municipality that is the county seat of Jefferson County, Colorado, United States. Founded in 1859 during the gold rush at nearby Pikes Peak it served as the capital of the provisional Territory of Jefferson. It is the home of Brewery Coors and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
