Federacao Internacional de Luta Livre (FILL) is a Brazilian professional wrestling promotion.
History[]
FILL was founded on April 21, 2007, following an initial idea by José Thiago Brito, known by his ring name Tytan, along with a concept formulated with a friend in November of the previous year. Initially, the company’s training sessions were all conducted on a lawn in the backyard of a house, in a practice known as backyard wrestling, involving fans of the sport from the São Cristóvão area. Shortly after, it extended to the beaches of São Conrado and Botafogo.
FILL officially professionalized in January 2010, setting up training locations with foam and rubber mats at a club known as Clube Florença, located in Vila Kosmos.
The company began to intensify its training after acquiring a professional ring in February 2012, inviting wrestlers to train with the company. A storyline involving the departure of its owner Tytan began in March 2012 to restructure the company. It concluded with the release of a video about a new FILL and its divided roster. During training, videos were published, some of which showed wrestlers performing moves in a real and exaggerated manner, such as a piledriver, which caused some indignation among fans.
FILL’s first official event took place on June 29, 2012, at the Rio Anime Club, featuring a tag team match between the Sadists (Distúrbio and Loki) vs. Christopher Tomba and Ed "The Rock.". The company continued to hold monthly shows, and its first tournament was created on September 16, 2012, called “The Winner Takes All,” featuring the company’s top wrestlers. FILL gained significant notoriety in one of the tournament’s quarterfinal matches, where Christopher Tomba defeated Loki, attracting media attention for the quality presented and for being the first Brazilian company to put traditional telecatch in the background. On November 25, 2012, the semifinals of this event were held, and FILL drew attention by being the first Brazilian company to offer a complete event for free download.
In early October, the O Globo website published a special article about FILL, describing it as the only company in Rio de Janeiro keeping wrestling active in Brazil. In November 2012, FILL was featured in a segment on the Sensei SporTV program, on the SporTV television network, about its structure and how it keeps telecatch active in Brazil2. In 2013, FILL opened its academy for people who want to learn about the sport, located in Rio de Janeiro, marking the beginning of a new era of talent within the ring.
In 2013, FILL created “Juntos Somos Fortes” the first professional wrestling tournament in Brazil, in partnership with SWU South Wrestling Union and CWL Pro-Wrestling, hosting one of the biggest events of 2013 for Brazilian Pro Wrestling.
The first edition of the event was divided into two days, each lasting 4 hours, and brought together wrestlers from Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, and Minas Gerais. The tournament had three more editions, the most recent being in 2019.
