A colossal rivalry between The World's Largest Athlete and The Big Dog is about to turn extreme, as Roman Reigns prepares to battle Big Show in a Last Man Standing Match at Extreme Rules on Sunday, April 26.
The showdown between the fierce adversaries was truly born under hardcore circumstances. In the wake of WrestleMania 31, The Authority's resident giant knocked the black-clad Superstar out cold – costing him a WWE World Heavyweight Championship opportunity in the process. Then, when WWE traveled across the pond to the U.K., he unleashed a vicious “automobile” assault on Reigns during Raw, chokeslamming him onto the hood of a vehicle that was situated on top of the entrance ramp. After being manhandled with such ease, many wonder how Reigns can possibly keep Big Show down for a 10-count.
Never count out The Big Dog, though; Reigns not only nearly conquered “Suplex City” when he battled Brock Lesnar on The Grandest Stage of Them All, but he also won the 2015 Royal Rumble Match and was named the 2014 Superstar of the Year. Even after his “auto incident” at London's O2 Arena at the hands of his gigantic adversary, Reigns still had the heart and intestinal fortitude to stand up on his own accord. In order words, if Big Show thinks Reigns will be easy to overcome, he may be drastically underestimating his powerful opponent.
The Last Man Standing Match is one of the most brutal stipulations in the squared circle, requiring one Superstar to administer such a beatdown that his opponent cannot stand up to answer the count of 10. Some of the most intense rivalries in WWE have seen the brutality that comes with this particular bout. As such, perhaps there is no better way for Reigns and Big Show to slug out their differences.
