Background
First held in 2010, Elimination Chamber became an annual event for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), taking place each year with the exception of 2016. Each event features the Elimination Chamber match, a contest where six competitors are held in pods, entering the ring, which is surrounded by a cage, at timed intervals, with a championship or championship opportunity on the line.
On September 21, 2023, it was announced that the 14th Elimination Chamber event would take place at Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia. It was the first Elimination Chamber event held in Australia and the first WWE event held in the country since Super Show-Down in 2018.
Storylines
At the Elimination Chamber Press Event on February 23, it was announced that WWE Women's Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane) would defend their title against Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell on the pre-show.
On February 5, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed that the winner of the women's Elimination Chamber Match would challenge Women's World Champion Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. That night on Raw, Becky Lynch became the first woman to qualify after beating Shayna Baszler. The next qualifying match took place on the February 9 episode of SmackDown, where Bianca Belair defeated Michin. On the February 12 episode of Raw, Liv Morgan scored a win over Zoey Stark to qualify. The next two qualifying matches took place on the February 16 episode of SmackDown, with Tiffany Stratton beating Zelina Vega and Naomi defeating Alba Fyre. The final competitor was determined by a Last Chance Battle Royal on the February 19 episode of Raw. A returning Raquel Rodriguez last eliminated Chelsea Green to win the match and secure the last spot.
In order to determine which team would challenge Raw and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Judgment Day (Damian Priest and Finn Bálor) at Elimination Chamber, it was announced that two Fatal Four Way Tag Team Matches would take place, with the winners going on to face each other. On the February 2 episode of SmackDown, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate won the SmackDown Fatal Four Way, while #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) won the Raw Fatal Four Way on the February 5 episode of Raw. On the February 9 episode of SmackDown, Dunne and Bate defeated #DIY, earning a title match at Elimination Chamber. Going into the event, Dunne and Bate became known as New Catch Republic. On the September 11, 2023 episode of Raw, Nia Jax made her return, assisting Rhea Ripley in retaining her Women's World Championship. However, Jax attacked Ripley after. At Crown Jewel on November 4, Ripley successfully retained her title in a Fatal Five Way Match that involved Jax. Jax continued to have her sights set on Ripley, promising to win the Royal Rumble and take the title from her, but Jax was unsuccessful in winning the match. On the January 29, 2024 episode of Raw, Jax would attack Ripley again. The following week, Ripley called out Jax. Attempting to retain order, Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced Ripley would defend her championship against Jax at Elimination Chamber.
On the February 9 episode of SmackDown, General Manager Nick Aldis announced that an Elimination Chamber Match would determine the challenger for World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 40. The first qualifying match took place right after, with Drew McIntyre defeating AJ Styles. Another qualifying match took place later that night, which saw Randy Orton beat Sami Zayn. On the February 12 episode of Raw, Bobby Lashley qualified after defeating Bronson Reed, while LA Knight secured his place with a win over Ivar. The final qualifying matches were held on the February 16 episode of SmackDown, in which Kevin Owens and Logan Paul defeated Dominik Mysterio and The Miz respectively.
