Denbigh is a market town and community in Denbighshire, Wales. The town's Welsh name translates into English to "Little Fortress", a reference to its historic castle,Denbigh Castle, which the town was built around in the 13th century.
The town's first charter charter came in 1290. Although the town was destroyed in the war of the roses in the mid 15th century, and later rebuilt on higher ground. Later it was a refugee spot for royalists during the English Civil War.
