David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty were a tag team in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on the Raw brand. They were both members of The New Nexus.

History[]

The New Nexus and tag team career (2011)[]

On the May 23 episode of Raw, New Nexus members McGillicutty and Otunga teamed up to win the WWE Tag Team Championship from Kane and The Big Show with the help interference from fellow New Nexus members Mason Ryan and CM Punk. After CM Punk's WWE contract expired on July 17, Otunga and McGillicutty became the only active members of the New Nexus. They made their only successful title defense against The Usos on the July 29 edition of SmackDown. On the August 1st edition of Raw, they competed against Santino Marella and Zack Ryder without any Nexus gear or armbands, and with all Nexus logos removed from their TitanTron, effectively signaling the end of the New Nexus. Soon after, they would enter into a tag team championship program with new tag team Air Boom, comprised of Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne. Throughout their feud with Air Boom, verbal jabs were made at the duo by Raw color commentator Jerry Lawler, who cited the tag team as boring and uncharismatic. He also noted how they seemingly never defended their titles. On the August 22 episode of Raw, Otunga and McGillicutty lost the Tag Team Championship to Kingston & Bourne. They then entered a feud with Lawler, which saw Lawler take on the team with a different opponent each week. After the minor feud with Lawler, the duo was split, and McGullicutty was written off television.
