Samuel Ratsch (January 7, 1993) is an American professional wrestler currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) under the ring name Darby Allin. In AEW, he is a former two-time TNT Champion.

Career

Early career and independent circuit (2015-2019)

Making his debut in 2015, Ratsch began competing under the ring name Darby Graves. However, he would later alter his ring name to Darby Allin.

World Wrestling Network (2016-2019)

At EVOLVE 59 on April 2, 2016, Allin debuted for World Wrestling Network (WWN), losing to Ethan Page. On January 7, 2017, Allin made his debut for Style Battle, but was defeated by Dave Crist. Allin would then debut for Full Impact Pro (FIP) the following day at Everything Burns, failing to win a Fight For All Match. On January 13, 2018, at EVOLVE 98, Allin failed to win the Evolve Championship from Zack Sabre Jr. The following month, Allin unsuccessfully challenged FIP Florida Heritage Champion Jon Davis.

On February 18 at EVOLVE 101, Allin failed to win a Four Way Elimination Match to determine the number one contender for the Evolve Championship. Allin would challenge for the FIP World Heavyweight Championship on July 13, but failed to win the title from Austin Theory. At EVOLVE 109 on August 5, Allin was unsuccessful in winning the WWN Championship from Joey Janela. On September 8, at EVOLVE 113, Allin was defeated by NXT wrestler Velveteen Dream. Allin wrestled his last match for Evolve at EVOLVE 125, losing to Anthony Henry. The following day, he wrestled his last match for the WWN, teaming with Priscilla Kelly in a loss to Austin Theory and Brandi Lauren. That weekend, Allin revealed he would no longer be working for WWN.

All Elite Wrestling (2019-present)

Early appearances (2019-2020)

On April 12, 2019, Allin signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). At Fyter Fest on June 29, Allin made his debut for the company, wrestling Cody Rhodes to a time limit draw. The following month at Fight For The Fallen, Allin partnered with Jimmy Havoc and Joey Janela in a loss to MJF, Sammy Guevara, and Shawn Spears. Following the match, a brawl would break out between Allin, Havoc, and Janela. As a result, the next month, at All Out, Allin competed against Havoc and Janela in a Three Way Match, which Havoc won. On the October 9 episode of Dynamite, Allin defeated Havoc to become the number one contender for the AEW World Championship. The following week, Allin failed to win the title from Chris Jericho in a Street Fight.

On the January 15, 2020 episode of Dynamite, Allin was defeated by PAC in the first round of a tournament to determine a number one contender for the AEW World Championship. Allin would then begin a feud with Sammy Guevara, an ally of Chris Jericho, before defeating Guevara in singles competition at Revolution on February 29. Two months later, Allin competed in a tournament to crown the inaugural TNT Champion. Allin would defeat Guevara in the first round on the April 22 episode of Dynamite, but was eliminated by Cody the following week. At Double or Nothing on May 23, Allin competed in the Casino Ladder Match, but failed to win.

After a two month absence, Allin would return on the July 15, episode of Dynamite, attacking Brian Cage after his match with AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. On the July 29 episode of Dynamite, Allin teamed up with Moxley to defeat Cage and Ricky Starks, and as a result, Allin earned a match against Moxley. However, Allin failed to win the AEW World Championship from Moxley on the following episode of Dynamite. At All Out on September 5, Allin competed in the Casino Battle Royale, but failed to win after he was eliminated by Brian Cage.

TNT Championship reigns (2020-present)

At Full Gear on November 7, Allin won his first title in AEW, defeating Cody Rhodes to win the TNT Championship. After this, Allin and Rhodes would join forces in a feud against Team Taz. On the December 2 episode of Dynamite, Allin and Rhodes defeated Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky Starks. After the bout, Sting debuted for AEW, stopping Hobbs and Starks from attacking Allin and Rhodes. Allin made his first defence of the TNT Championship on the January 13, 2021 episode of Dynamite, defeating Brian Cage. At Revolution on March 7, Allin teamed up with Sting, defeating Cage and Starks in a Street Fight.

On the March 17 episode of Dynamite, as a tribute to the late Brodie Lee, Allin issued an open challenge to The Dark Order, which was accepted by John Silver. The following week, Allin successfully defended his title against Silver. Allin would go on to defend the TNT Championship against the likes of JD Drake, Matt Hardy, The Butcher, Jungle Boy, and Ten. After Allin's match with Ten, Ethan Page and Scorpio Sky would attack Allin and Sting, before Ten and Lance Archer made the save. On the May 12 episode of Dynamite, Allin was defeated by Miro, losing the TNT Championship as a result. At Double or Nothing on May 30, Allin and Sting teamed up again, defeating Page and Sky.

On the July 14 episode of Dynamite, Allin defeated Page in a Coffin Match, ending their feud. On the August 20 episode of Rampage, CM Punk debuted for AEW, challenging Allin to a match. The match between the two would take place on September 5 at All Out, with Punk emerging victorious. On November 13 at Full Gear, Allin was defeated by MJF. On the February 16, 2022 episode of Dynamite, Allin failed to win the TNT Championship from Sammy Guevara. Then, on the March 4 episode of Rampage, Allin challenged for the title again, this time in a Three Way Match that also involved Andrade El Idolo. However, Allin failed to win. On March 6 at Revolution, Allin teamed up with Guevara and Sting to defeat Andrade, Isiah Kassidy, and Matt Hardy in a Tornado Tag Team Match.

On the March 30 episode of Dynamite, Allin was defeated by Andrade in singles competition. The pair faced off again on the April 20 episode of Dynamite, this time in a Coffin Match, which Allin won. On the April 29 episode of Rampage, Allin qualified for the Men's Owen Hart Cup after defeating Swerve Strickland. However, Allin was eliminated in the first round after losing to Jeff Hardy in a No Disqualification Match on the May 11 episode of Dynamite. At Double or Nothing on May 29, Allin was defeated by Kyle O'Reilly. The following month, at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door, Allin joined forces with Sting and Shingo Takagi to defeat El Phantasmo, Matt Jackson, and Nick Jackson.

On the July 20 episode of Dynamite, Allin was defeated by Brody King. However, on the August 10 episode of Dynamite, Allin scored a win over King in a Coffin Match. On September 4, at All Out, Allin teamed up with Sting and Miro, defeating King, Buddy Matthews, and Malakai Black. Allin would then compete in the Grand Slam Tournament of Champions, but was eliminated by Sammy Guevara in a first round match on the September 9 episode of Rampage. Later that month, on the September 23 episode of Rampage, Allin and Sting defeated Brody King and Buddy Matthews in a No Disqualification Match. At Full Gear on November 19, Allin and Sting competed in another No Disqualification Match, this time defeating Jay Lethal and Jeff Jarrett.

Allin would go on to challenge TNT Champion Samoa Joe on the December 7 episode of Dynamite, but was defeated. On the January 4, 2023 episode of Dynamite, Allin faced Joe again, with Allin emerging victorious to win the TNT Championship for a second time. Allin went on to defend the title against the likes of Mike Bennett, Juice Robinson, KUSHIDA, and Buddy Matthews. On the February 1 episode of Dynamite, Allin lost the title back to Joe in a No Holds Barred Match.

Appearances outside of pro wrestling

Darby has been featured on MTV's "Ridiculousness" as well as TLC's "Sex Sent me to the ER". Disturbing footage and real life experiences appear not to be an intimidation tactic but as a way off the streets.

Personal life

On November 21, 2018, Ratsch married Priscilla Kelly. However, in August 2020, they announced they would be divorcing.
