The Boss 'n' Hug Connection was a Tag team in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) consisting of Sasha Banks and Bayley.


The friendship between Sasha Banks & Bayley was founded out of their new-found respect for each other after their performances at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn where Bayley defeated Sasha Banks to win the NXT Women's Championship, a match would then go onto win the NXT Year-End Award for Match of the Year. Bayley then successfully defend her championship in a rematch against Sasha Banks at NXT Takeover: Respect which marked the first time a women's match headlined a NXT Takeover event.

Sasha Banks would make her main roster debut alongside fellow four horsewomen members Charlotte & Becky Lynch on the July 13th episode of RAW. Banks would continue to appear in NXT as the NXT Women's Champion and her final appearance in NXT would be at the NXT Takeover: Respect network special. Bayley would continue to defend her NXT Women's Championship against the likes of Nia Jax, Eva Marie & Carmella. Bayley would then later lose her NXT Women's Championship to Asuka at NXT Takeover: Dallas. Bayley would continue her chase to regain the NXT Women's Championship throughout the first half of 2016, where she was unsuccessful in re-capturing the championship when she lost to Asuka at NXT Takeover: Brooklyn II.

The friendship between Sasha Banks & Bayley would be highlighted over their social media pages with their friendship being initially acknowledged when Bayley debuted on the main roster as Sasha Banks' mystery partner. Bayley assisted Sasha Banks in a winning effort against Dana Brooke and the WWE Women's Champion at the time, Charlotte where Sasha Banks tapped out the champion. Bayley would officially join the main roster full-time when she appeared on the August 22nd episode of RAW which marked her RAW debut. Sasha Banks would go on to defeat champion Charlotte Flair on three occasions during late 2016, where she became a three-time RAW Women's Champion. Banks. After Banks' third unsuccessful title defense at Roadblock: End of the Line, she had to abide by the stipulation which resulted in her being unable to compete for the WWE Raw Women's Championship whilst Charlotte Flair was the champion which marked the culmination of rivalry that began in January 2016. Bayley would then move on to challenge Charlotte for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble 2017 PPV, after Sasha Banks assisted Bayley by distracting Nia Jax for Bayley to take advantage and defeat Nia Jax to earn the title opportunity. Sasha Banks would then enter a rivalry with Nia Jax as a result, where she faced Nia Jax at the Royal Rumble 2017 PPV. Both, Sasha Banks & Bayley were unsuccessful in their respective matches at the PPV.

After pinning Charlotte Flair in a tag team match on the January 30th episode of RAW, Bayley earned a title opportunity against Flair on the February 13th edition of RAW. Bayley won the WWE Raw Women's Championship by defeating Flair after an assist by Sasha Banks. Bayley would successfully defend her title against Flair at the Fastlane 2017 PPV. Banks would then confront best friend Bayley on the March 6th episode of RAW, asking for a WWE Raw Women's Championship title opportunity at WrestleMania 33. Stephanie McMahon then deny her the opportunity and announced Flair as the #1 contender. McMahon then pitted Banks against her best friend and champion Bayley, with the stipulation that if Banks defeated Bayley she would be added to the RAW Women's Championship match at WrestleMania 33, making it a triple threat match. Banks be successful and defeat her friend via submission and got added to the match. It was later announced through WWE's Twitter page, that Nia Jax would be added to the bout to make it a fatal 4-way elimination match. At WrestleMania 33, Bayley would successfully defend her WWE Raw Women's Championship by lastly eliminating Flair from the match.

After WrestleMania, Bayley would enter a feud with Alexa Bliss, where she would lose her WWE Raw Women's Championship to Bliss at the Payback 2017 PPV. Bayley was unsuccessful in her attempt to regain the title at Extreme Rules 2017. Sasha Banks earned a title opportunity after winning a Gauntlet match where she defeated Alexa Bliss via disqualification, meaning she did not win the title. Bayley would later pin Alexa Bliss in a tag team match on the July 10th edition of RAW. As Banks & Bayley both had claims for a title opportunity, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle made a match between the two, with the winner facing Alexa Bliss for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at the Summerslam 2017 PPV. Bayley would defeat Banks on the July 24th episode of RAW to earn this opportunity, however was injured a week later by Nia Jax and would have to then relinquish the opportunity. Banks would then later defeat Nia Jax on the August 17th episode of RAW to take Bayley's place in the match at Summerslam. At the Summerslam 2017 PPV, Banks was successful in capturing the WWE Raw Women's Championship from Alexa Bliss, making her a record tying four-time champion. Banks would later lose the championship in a rematch with Alexa Bliss on the August 28th edition of RAW, where Banks and Alexa Bliss competed in the main event. Banks would make a claim for rematch, which was granted for the No Mercy PPV, however after being defeated by Nia Jax & Emma in a tag team match in which Banks teamed with champion Alexa Bliss, the bout then became a fatal 4-way. Bayley returned on the September 18th edition of RAW, where she saved Banks from a three-on-one attack and was later added to the bout to make it a fatal-5-way. At the No Mercy PPV, both Banks and Bayley were unsuccessful in capturing the WWE Raw Women's Championship. Banks & Bayley continued to team together throughout the later part of 2017. They entered into a feud with the returning Paige with her new stable Absolution, alongside their ally Mickie James. Banks, Bayley & Mickie James were unsuccessful in defeating Absolution on the Christmas edition of RAW on the 25th January. Banks & Bayley continued to feud with Absolution leading into 2018.

At the Royal Rumble 2018 PPV, Sasha Banks & Bayley both made history as they competed in the first ever Women's Royal Rumble match, entering at Numbers 1 & 29 respectively. Banks eliminated Bayley during the bout in shocking fashion which would then spark tension between the two in the coming weeks and months. Both were unsuccessful in the match, with Banks being eliminated by The Bella Twins after lasting just shy of 55 minutes in the bout, setting a record for the longest time a women spent in the match. On the January 29th edition of RAW, Banks would challenge Asuka in attempt to make further history by ending Asuka's undefeated streak. Banks was unsuccessful however, seeds of a Heel turn were planted. On that same episode of RAW, it was announced that Banks and Bayley would both compete in the first ever all-women's Elimination Chamber at the Elimination Chamber 2018, for Alexa Bliss' WWE Raw Women's Championship. The week after, Bayley would console Banks after her loss, however things went south as Banks dismissed claims that Bayley could defeat Asuka causing tension. Bayley was unsuccessful in her match with Asuka. On the February 12th episode of RAW, Banks and Bayley squared off in a match as a result of the brewing tension. Bayley defeated Banks and Banks confronted Bayley after the bout, however they were both attacked by Nia Jax.

At the Elimination Chamber 2018, both Banks and Bayley were unsuccessful in capturing the WWE Raw Women's Championship after both being eliminated by Alexa Bliss. During the match, Banks betrayed Bayley by kicking her off one of the pods which subsequently contributed to her elimination. The post-Elimination Chamber 2018 edition of RAW, Bayley would refuse to tag Banks in a tag team match which furthered their growing tension. On the March 12th episode of RAW, Bayley would accompany Banks to the ring for her bout against Sonya Deville but would leave ringside after Banks defeated Sonya Deville and left Banks prone to a 3-on-1 beatdown by Absolution. The week after, Banks confronted Bayley with Bayley offering her reasoning by claiming she could not get over Banks recent betrayals at the Royal Rumble 2018 & Elimination Chamber 2018. Bayley questioned Banks' friendship and asked for an explanation but Absolution interrupted leading to a match where Sonya Deville & Mandy Rose defeated the duo as a result of a miscommunication between Banks & Bayley. Banks would once again confront Bayley in the locker room backstage on the March 26th episode of RAW, where their tension reached boiling-point and they brawled backstage before being separated by referees. On this episode, it was also announced both Banks and Bayley would take part in the first ever WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34. The next week, Bayley would defeat Sonya Deville and Banks saved Bayley from a beat down by Absolution, Banks then demanded Bayley to raise her hand however they argued and brawled in the ring. At WrestleMania 34, Bayley eliminated Banks from the Battle Royal. Bayley was later eliminated by Naomi who was never eliminated.

Following WrestleMania 34, tensions continued between the duo with Bayley inadvertently hitting Sasha Banks costing her a match against Mandy Rose on the April 9th edition of RAW. The week later, Banks and Bayley squared off, however the match ended in a no contest when the Riott Squad debuted on RAW and attacked both Bayley and Banks. Banks and Bayley would begin to feud with the Riott Squad, however would refuse to help each other. On the May 28th episode of RAW, Banks won a Gauntlet match to earn a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match at the Money in the Bank 2018 PPV, Banks was unsuccessful in the capturing the briefcase. On the following RAW, Banks was confronted by Bayley to which seemingly put their issues behind them. Bayley & Banks would suffer a loss to Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan after Morgan pinned Banks. Following, the loss Banks would shove Bayley to the mat and left her in the ring. Bayley chased after Banks backstage, where Banks claimed to be done with Bayley and sparked a brawl backstage. Banks would later take off in her car as Bayley tried to talk things out. On the June 25th edition of RAW, Bayley and Banks were forced to team up together along with ally Ember Moon in a six-women tag team match against the Riott Squad where they were unsuccessful after Banks lost to a rollup. Bayley then attacked her former friend and she left her lying on the floor. Following the altercation, both Banks and Bayley were forced to go to counseling as ordered by Kurt Angle to sort out their issues. The following week, Banks & Bayley attended counseling which ended with the two of them arguing. On the July 16th episode of RAW, Kurt Angle gave the duo one last chance to get along as they faced Dana Brooke & Alicia Fox in tag team action. The match ended in a disqualification after Banks saved Bayley from a beatdown, Bayley confronted Banks backstage where Banks confessed her love for Bayley and that she valued their friendship and was acting out of jealousy. On the July 23rd episode of RAW, Banks and Bayley appeared during a backstage interview and realized that they have talked out their issues and are now on the same page. They later proved this when they defeated two local competitors.

Boss 'n' Hug Connection (2018-2019)

After working out their issues, Sasha Banks & Bayley made their debut as a tag team with the 'Boss 'n' Hug Connection' team name. They were successful in their debut as an official team when they defeated Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan. Banks & Bayley would continue to feud with the Riott Squad leading into the fall. Due to an undisclosed injury, Banks was out of action for a short stretch but made her return on the October 15th episode of RAW where her and Bayley accompanied Natalya for her bout . They aligned themselves with veteran Natalya where they defeated the Riott Squad at the first ever all-women's PPV Evolution. After failing to qualify to be a part of the women's Survivor Series team. Banks & Bayley were announced as members of the team on the PPV Kickoff Show as replacements for Natalya & Ruby Riott. At Survivor Series 2018, Banks & Bayley were both eliminated from their 5-on-5 elimination tag team match but their team was successful when Nia Jax defeated Asuka to become the lone survivor for her team. On the December 24th edition of RAW, Vince McMahon announced the creation of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship in 2019. On the January 7th edition of RAW, Alexa Bliss hosted the first edition of her Moment of Bliss talk-show. Ronda Rousey revealed on the show, she would like to face Sasha Banks at the Royal Rumble 2019 PPV. On the show, Banks later defeated Nia Jax to earn the opportunity to face Ronda Rousey for the WWE Raw Women's Championship at the Royal Rumble 2019. Bayley assisted partner Banks in handing Ronda Rousey her first WWE defeat in a tag team match against Ronda Rousey & Natalya. At the Royal Rumble 2019, Banks was unsuccessful in capturing the WWE Raw Women's Championship. Bayley also competed at the event in the women's Royal Rumble match where she entered at Number 27, eliminating three women. However, she was later eliminated from the match. On the post-Royal Rumble 2019 episode of Raw Bayley was defeated by Ronda Rousey after accepting her open challenge match for the WWE Raw Women's Championship.

Following the announcement of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on the December 24th episode of Raw, Banks & Bayley qualified for the Elimination Chamber Match on the February 4th edition of Raw. At the Elimination Chamber 2019, Bayley & Sasha Banks won the Elimination Chamber Match to become the inaugural WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. On the post-Elimination Chamber 2019 edition of Raw, Banks & Bayley announced they would defend the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on all of the WWE's brands. They made their return to the NXT brand on the February 27th edition of the show, where they put the locker room on notice. Banks & Bayley successfully defended the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships against Nia Jax & Tamina at the Fastlane 2019 PPV. On the March 19th episode of SmackDown, Banks & Bayley appeared after being called out by The IIconics. This marked Bayley's debut on the brand and Banks' first bout on the brand since June 2016. On the show, they suffered a non-title loss to the The IIconics after Peyton Royce pinned Banks.

At WrestleMania 35, the duo lost the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship to The IIconics (Billie Kay & Peyton Royce) in a Fatal-Four Way Women's tag team match which also included The Divas of Doom (Natalya & Beth Phoenix) and Nia Jax & Tamina, when Kay pinned Bayley ending their reign at 49 days. Following WrestleMania, Banks took time off while Bayley received a push and won the Women's Money in the Bank Ladder match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. Later on that night, Bayley saved Becky Lynch from Charlotte Flair and Lacey Evans before cashing in her briefcase on Flair and becoming SmackDown Women's Champion for the first time in her career.

On the August 12th episode of Raw after SummerSlam, Banks returned after being absent for four months but turned heel by attacking Natalya. When Lynch tried to make the save, Banks attacked her with a chair. Four weeks later on the September 2nd episode of Raw, Bayley turned heel as well and reunited with Banks by helping her attack Lynch with a chair. Thus the duo reformed as heels. The next night on SmackDown they attacked Charlotte Flair, whom Bayley was scheduled to defend the SmackDown Women's Championship against at the Clash Of Champions pay-per-view.

At Clash Of Champions, Bayley retained the SmackDown Women's Championship against Charlotte after using an exposed turnbuckle before pinning her with a roll up. Later during Sasha and Becky's WWE Raw Women's Championship match, Banks used a steel chair behind the referee's back to strike Lynch. Lynch snapped, took the chair and accidentally knocked out the referee before using the chair on Banks. As a result, Lynch was disqualified but retained her Championship.
