Blackpool Combat Club is a professional wrestling stable in All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
History[]
All Elite Wrestling (2022–present)[]
Blackpool Combat Club's origins began on the February 2, 2022 edition of Dynamite, following Jon Moxley's victory over Wheeler Yuta after which Bryan Danielson proposed to Moxley that they should be fighting together rather than against each other. On the February 16, 2022 edition of Dynamite, Moxley responded to Danielson, saying that they would have to fight each other before joining forces. At Revolution 2022, Moxley defeated Danielson, however, the two men would begin brawling after the match. William Regal would then make his All Elite Wrestling (AEW) debut, slapping both Danielson and Moxley, before making the two men shake hands.
Moxley and Danielson then formed a team with William Regal as their manager, defeating The WorkHorsemen (Anthony Henry & JD Drake) in their first match together. Following a victory over The Varsity Blonds (Brian Pillman Jr. & Griff Garrison) on the March 23, 2022 edition of Dynamite, the three announced they would be known as the Blackpool Combat Club. On the March 30, 2022 edition of Dynamite, Regal was impressed by Wheeler Yuta's performance in a loss to Danielson. After winning the ROH Pure Championship at ROH Supercard of Honor XV, Yuta was defeated by Moxley in a bloody match on the April 8, 2022 edition of Rampage. Following the match, Yuta joined Blackpool Combat Club.
Blackpool Combat Club ended The Gunn Club's winning streak on the April 15, 2022 edition of Rampage in their first match as a trio, before defeating Brock Anderson, Dante Martin & Lee Moriarty on the April 20, 2022 edition of Dynamite.
Claudio Castagnoli made his AEW surprise debut as Zack Sabre, Jr.'s opponent at AEW-NJPW Forbidden Door, being advertised as the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club. He replaced Bryan Danielson in the match due to injury. At the July 15th, 2022 episode of Rampage, Jonathan Gresham defended his ROH World Championship against Lee Moriarty. Following a successful match, Castagnoli made an appearance during a promo cut by Gresham. Castagnoli defeated Gresham for the ROH World Championship at ROH Death Before Dishonor 2022. Also at the event, Yuta defended the ROH Pure Championship against Daniel Garcia.
On the August 24 episode of Dynamite, Moxley, who was the Interim AEW World Champion, having beaten Hiroshi Tanahashi at Forbidden Door, defeated CM Punk to become the undisputed champion. At All Out, Danielson was defeated by Chris Jericho, while Moxley lost the AEW World Championship to CM Punk. On the September 7 episode of Dynamite, Daniel Garcia defeated Yuta, ending his ROH Pure Championship reign. Following All Out, CM Punk was stripped of the AEW World Championship, and as a result, a tournament was held to crown a new champion. Both Moxley and Danielson competed in the tournament, meeting each other in the final on the September 21 episode of Dynamite. Moxley would win the match, becoming a three time AEW World Champion. Also that night, Chris Jericho defeated Castagnoli to win the ROH World Championship, with Jericho later promising to rebuild ROH in his image.
At Full Gear, Moxley defended the AEW World Championship against Casino Ladder Match winner MJF. During the match, William Regal handed brass knuckles to MJF, betraying the Blackpool Combat Club, along with helping MJF win the title. On the November 30 episode of Dynamite, MJF turned on Regal, attacking him and sending him to a local hospital. This would be the conclusion of Regal's stint with the Blackpool Combat Club and also the end of his time working for AEW. At Final Battle, Castagnoli regained the ROH World Championship after defeating Chris Jericho.
