Matt Winchester is an American professional wrestler signed to Ring of Honor under the ring name Beer City Bruiser.

Career

ROH (2015-)

The 2015 Top Prospect tournament saw the Beer City Bruiser reaching the semifinals after beating Mikey Webb. He was defeated by Will Ferrara in that round, but Bruiser got to make more appearances for ROH throughout the year. By July 2015, he started teaming up with Silas Young. This heel duo lasted for years and became an established heel tag team in the promotion.

Most of Bruiser's appearances were in tag team matches with Silas Young in 2016. They challenged War Machine for the World Tag Team Championships ROH Supercard of Honor X, but were unsuccessful. At ROH Tag Wars 2016, Bruiser and Silas Young were able to win the tournament, earning another shot at the Tag Team titles. This time, the champions were The Addiction (Frankie Kazarian and Christopher Daniels), and the match took place on ROH's 251st TV episode. The Addiction retained the titles there. On episode 277, Young and Bruiser defeated a duo of enhancement talents and then introduced a 3rd partner: Bull James. Bruiser wasn't pleased with this, and then this ended up being a swerve, where Young and Bruiser beat up Bull James. This all culminated with a match between Silas Young and Bull James on episode 283 of ROH TV. Bruiser was at ringside and took a tornado DDT from Bull James, but ultimately, Silas Young won the match.

At Supercard of Honor XI, Bruiser teamed up with Silas Young to take on Matt Taven and Vinny Marseglia. The storyline here came from TK O'Ryan's shoot injury at the 15th Anniversary show. The Kingdom were still the 6-man tag team champions, but they needed a partner to defend the title against Bully Ray and The Briscoe Brothers. Silas Young offered himself to The Kingdom at a price: he'd fill in for TK O'Ryan if Young, Bruiser and one more partner got a title shot later. Taven and Marseglia didn't have much of a choice but to accept. Bully Ray and The Briscoe Brothers won the 6-man tag team titles, and Taven blamed Silas Young for losing the titles. In the end, Bruiser and Young defeated Taven and Marseglia.

There weren't many more positive results for Bruiser for the rest of 2017, but he did get to help Silas Young in his feud against Jay Lethal. This included an attack at Best in the World 2017 where Young hit a frog splash on Jay Lethal, crashing through a table. On episode 311 of ROH TV, Lethal beat Bruiser in a no-DQ match. On September, Young and Bruiser found a partner to challenge for the ROH 6-man tag team titles: Minoru Suzuki from NJPW. They were unsuccessful in their match against Bullet Club (Hangman Page and the Young Bucks). This led to a match between Minoru Suzuki and Silas Young at ROH Global Wars Pittsburgh. Despite Bruiser's interference, Suzuki defeated Silas Young with some help from Davey Boy Smith Jr.

The rest of the year saw Young and Bruiser pick up a few wins over Best Friends (Beretta and Chuckie T), and Coast 2 Coast. At day 2 of Survival of the Fittest 2017, Young and Bruiser were in a Four Corner Survival match against Esfinge and Rey Cometa, The Dawgs (Will Ferrara and Rhett Titus) and the defending ROH World Tag Team champions, the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley). Young and Bruiser were unsuccessful there.

In 2018, Brian Milonas joined Silas Young and Beer City Bruiser to form a heel stable. Bruiser also got to challenge Hirooki Goto for the IWGP NEVER Openweight title at day 1 of Honor Rising 2018. Goto retained his championship there. On the second day of Honor Rising, Bruiser challenged Dalton Castle for his ROH World title, along with Beretta in a three way, but Castle retained his championship. At Masters of the Craft 2018, Bruiser was part of the Defy or Deny fatal four way match along with Dalton Castle, Marty Scurll and Punishment Martinez. Marty Scurll won the match, earning himself an ROH World title shot. Throughout the year, Bruiser also participated in tag team matches, without much success. At day 1 of War of the Worlds, the trio of Bruiser, Young and Milonas was defeated by Los Ingobernables de Japon (EVIL, Sanada and Tetsuya Naito). Day 2 of that event saw Tetsuya Naito beating Beer City Bruiser, and on day 3, Young and Bruiser defeated The Boys.

On episode 367 of ROH TV, Young, Bruiser and Milonas challenged Bullet Club (Cody and the Young Bucks) for the 6-man tag team titles. Bullet Club retained their titles as Silas Young walked out on his teammates. Following this, Bruiser and Milonas kept teaming up and later became known as The Bouncers. At Glory By Honor, this team was defeated by The Briscoe Brothers. After that, Bruiser and Milonas debuted the "toast of honor" - an offer of beer drinking to their opponents after a match. Bruiser was in the Sea of Honor tournament on Chris Jericho's cruise, but lost in the first round to Cheeseburger. He was also in a qualifying match for the Survival of the Fittest six-man mayhem. However, Bruiser was quickly defeated by Christopher Daniels there. On December 27, 2018, it was announced by Bruiser himself that he signed a new contract with Ring of Honor.

The next year was more positive for The Bouncers. Along with some wins over enhancement talents on TV, they won their first round match against The Boys in the Tag Wars 2019 tournament. At the semifinal three-way, The Bouncers lost along with Kenny King and MVP to PCO and Brody King. Following that, Bound by Honor 2019 saw Lifeblood (Bandido, Juice Robinson, Mark Haskins and Tracy Williams) beat The Bouncers and Coast 2 Coast (Shaheem Ali and Leon St. Giovanni). At G1 Supercard, The Bouncers were part of the Honor Rumble, but were both unsuccessful there. Masters of the Craft 2019 saw The Bouncers team up with Coast 2 Coast again, and they lost to The Briscoe Brothers, Silas Young and Shane Taylor. These losses sparked a rivalry between Coast 2 Coast and the Bouncers, but it didn't go further than some action in multi-team matches. On day 2 of State of the Art, The Bouncers won a #1 Contendership gauntlet match. This earned them a title shot against The Briscoe Brothers. The Bouncers also teamed up with Jay Lethal to defeat The Kingdom (Matt Taven, Vinny Marseglia and TK O'Ryan). More momentum came their way at Manhattan Mayhem 2019, where The Bouncers beat Coast 2 Coast and Soldiers of Savagery in a three way match. However, at Mass Hysteria, The Briscoe Brothers successfully defender their World Tag Team titles against The Bouncers.
