All Elite Wrestling (AEW) introduced the Battle of the Belts event with Battle of the Belts I on January 8, 2022. The event, as implied by the name, is a one-hour special where all matches feature championships on the line. The second Battle of the Belts took place on April 15, 2022. On the June 1, 2022 episode of Dynamite, it was announced that Battle of the Belts III would take place on August 5, 2022 at the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Storylines[]
On the August 3, 2022 episode of Dynamite, after Jamie Hayter, who teamed with Britt Baker, pinned Toni Storm, who was partnered with AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa in a tag team match, it was announced that Hayter would face Rosa for the Women's World Championship at Battle of the Belts III.
After defeating Orange Cassidy on the August 3, 2022 episode of Dynamite, Jay Lethal, along with Sonjay Dutt and Satnam Singh looked to further attack Cassidy, however, they were stopped by TNT Champion Wardlow and Best Friends (Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta).
