Austin Sopp (August 26, 1994) is an American second generation professional wrestler currently working under the ring name Austin Gunn. He is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW).
Early life[]
Austin was born in 1994 in Florida. He is the son of professional wrestler Monty Sopp, better known as Billy Gunn and his first wife Tina Tinnell. Austin has an older brother named Colten (b. 1991). Austin attended Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida from 2013 to 2017. He also played college football.
Professional wrestling career[]
Early career[]
Debuting as Austin Gunn, his first match was on March 18, 2017 at a Sunbelt Wrestling Entertainment event, teaming with his father Billy Gunn in a three-on-two handicap match defeating Adam Rose, Deimos & Justin Overstreet. Later on during June 11 of the same year, Gunn debuted in Big Time Wrestling where he won his first singles match defeating Ken Kerbis.
During the course of the following year in 2018, Gunn appeared in several promotions including Outlaw Wrestling, New York Wrestling Connection, Steel Domain Wrestling, Wisconsin Pro Wrestling, MCW Pro Wrestling, Pro Wrestling 2.0 and David "Gangrel" Heath's Gangrel's Wrestling Asylum.
During the months of August and October 2018, Gunn also appeared in dark matches for Ohio Valley Wrestling, including a singles match lost against Crimson and later appearing in a ROH World Championship 15-Man Number One Contender Battle Royal.
Ring Of Honor (2019)[]
Gunn signed his first professional wrestling contract with Ring Of Honor. He made his debut on August 29, during the 2019 Top Prospect Tournament, advancing in the first round after eliminating Brian Johnson. He wrestled his final match during September 28 during Death Before Dishonor, where he lost the final round of the 2019 Top Prospect Tournament against Dak Draper.
All Elite Wrestling (2020–present)[]
At the end of his time in Ring of Honor, Gunn signed his second contract with All Elite Wrestling in 2020 and made his televised debut on the January 14 episode of AEW Dark. During the program, Austin appeared as one-half of The Gunn Club, teaming with his father Billy Gunn in defeating Peter Avalon & Shawn Spears.
