- This edition of Nitro saw the first appearance of Ted DiBiase. He entered the arena near the end of the match between The Giant and Jim Duggan and sat ringside.
- This edition of Nitro saw the first televised appearance of Chris Jericho in WCW.
- The nWo (Hollywood Hogan, Scott Hall & Kevin Nash) interfered in the final match of the night. They knocked out Chris Benoit & Steve McMichael and spray painted "nWo" onto their backs. Ric Flair & Arn Anderson came to their rescue. Flair ended up getting spray painted in his face and hair. After the attack, the nWo taunted the crowd as fans began to throw trash into the ring. The nWo then took over the broadcast booth, spray painting "nWo" onto the front of the broadcast table.
