Storylines[]

The event featured several professional wrestling matches which involved different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed heroes, villains, or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that build tension and culminate in a wrestling match or series of matches. Storylines are produced on Impact's weekly television program.

Following Rich Swann's victory over Brian Myers at Slammiversary 2022 to retain the Impact Digital Media Championship, Swann regained physical possession of the belt and showed Myers that he was the "real" champion. However, on the June 30, 2022 episode of Before The Impact, Myers, ahead of Swann's match with Raj Singh, came down to ringside and stated he was a fan of Swann. Myers would observe Swann's match, however, Myers, along with Singh, would be on the receiving end of a somersault off the apron. Following the match, Myers would attack Swann, demanding a rematch with Swann for the Digital Media Championship. It was later made official that Swann would face Myers in a Dot Combat Match for the Digital Media Championship on the Against All Odds pre-show. On July 1, Impact Wrestling also announced that Black Taurus would face Laredo Kid on the pre-show.

On the June 30, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, Ace Austin, who recently joined BULLET CLUB, defeated his former friend Alex Zayne while Chris Sabin defeated Frankie Kazarian. Impact Wrestling announced the same day that the Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin) would take on BULLET CLUB members Ace Austin and Chris Bey at Against All Odds, with both teams going into the event with momentum on their side.

At Slammiversary 2022, during the Queen of the Mountain match, the alliance of Chelsea Green and Deonna Purrazzo were sent through two tables after Mia Yim pushed over the ladder that Green and Purrazzo were perched on. On the June 23, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, Yim faced Green in one-on-one competition. However, Purrazzo would become involved after she pushed Yim off the top rope. Purrazzo would be prevented from interfering further by the special enforcer for the Queen of the Mountain match, Mickie James, allowing Yim to score a victory over Green. On June 27, following a challenge from Green and Purrazzo, it was made official that James and Yim would take on Green and Purrazzo at Against All Odds.

In the wake of Mike Bailey's victory over Ace Austin to win the Impact X Division Championship at Slammiversary 2022, a four-way match to determine Bailey's first challenger took place on the June 30, 2022 episode of iMPACT!. As Bailey watched the bout closely on a monitor backstage, Trey Miguel, the only person to defeat Bailey in singles competition, would win the match, booking his ticket for an X Division Championship opportunity at Against All Odds.

After losing the Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship to Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie at Slammiversary 2022, The Influence (Madison Rayne and Tenille Dashwood) was left a woman down due to Rayne suffering an injury during the match. Left without a partner for a rematch with Rosemary and Valkyrie, Dashwood and the injured Rayne provided guest commentary for Gisele Shaw's match against Rosemary. Impressed with Shaw's performance, Dashwood assisted Shaw in winning the bout. Later that night, it was made official that Gisele Shaw would take Rayne's place as Dashwood's partner to take on Rosemary and Taya Valkyrie in an Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship match at Against All Odds.

Following their loss to the Impact Originals (Alex Shelley, Chris Sabin, Davey Richards, Frankie Kazarian, and Nick Aldis) at Slammiversary 2022, Honor No More denied their loss on the June 23, 2022 episode of iMPACT!. Honor No More's leader Eddie Edwards blamed their defeat on PCO, who was pinned in the ten-man tag team match. However, Honor No More would be interrupted by America's Most Wanted (Chris Harris and James Storm), who stated they had to earn the respect of their peers. Newly crowned Impact World Tag Team champions The Good Brothers (Doc Gallows and Karl Anderson) and The Briscoes (Jay Briscoe & Mark Briscoe), both teams having shared a toast with America's Most Wanted, came to Harris and Storm's aid. A brawl broke out, with Honor No More eventually fleeing. Later that night, Impact Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore announced that at Against All Odds, Honor No More's Eddie Edwards, Matt Taven, Mike Bennett, Kenny King, and Vincent would take on The Good Brothers, James Storm, and The Briscoes. However, in that night's main event, Edwards, Taven, and Bennett defeated The Briscoes and James Storm before Honor No More began attacking The Briscoes and Storm. Like their attack on Heath and Rhino, Honor No More put The Briscoes out after a brutal assault with steel chairs. On the June 30, 2022 episode of iMPACT!, The Good Brothers defeated Vincent and PCO of Honor No More before Honor No More began attacking Storm and the Impact World Tag Team champions. James Storm's long-time tag partner Chris Harris and Heath made the save, revealing that they would take The Briscoes' place in the ten-man tag team match.

Moose attacked Callihan with a chair before putting him through a ringside table. Soon after the attack, Callihan approached Impact Official Gail Kim, demanding to face Moose in Raven's signature Clockwork Orange House of Fun match, a match he deemed more violent than a Monster's Ball match. The Clockwork Orange House of Fun match between Callihan and Moose was made official for Against All Odds, along with Impact announcing that Raven would be in attendance.

In the wake of her victory in the first-ever Queen of the Mountain match at Slammiversary 2022 to win the Impact Knockouts Championship, Jordynne Grace's first challenger was revealed to be Tasha Steelz, who Grace dethroned at Slammiversary. Steelz stated she would activate her rematch clause to face Grace, making the championship match official for Against All Odds.

Before Slammiversary 2022, where Josh Alexander successfully defended the Impact World Championship against Violent By Design leader Eric Young, Alexander faced one of Young's companions, the undefeated Joe Doering, in singles competition. Violent By Design member Deaner distracted the referee while Young handed Doering the Violent By Design flag. Alexander pried it out of Doering's hands before using it as a weapon. Alexander was disqualified as a result. Following the championship match at Slammiversary, which saw interference from Doering and Deaner, Impact Executive Vice President Scott D'Amore questioned why Violent By Design needed to interfere on the company's 20th-anniversary show. Deaner reminded D'Amore of Doering's undefeated streak and his victory over Alexander. D'Amore explained that there would not need to be any more attacking from behind or interference because Doering would face Alexander for the Impact World Championship at Against All Odds.
