The January 29, 2021 Edition of 205 Live was a Professional wrestling television show of the WWE which took place at the Capitol Wrestling Center in Orlando, Florida.

Summary[]

The Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic didn’t quite go according to plan for Jake Atlas, August Grey or Ariya Daivari, as all three of their respective tandems were eliminated in the first round of the tournament, and all three turned their attention back to singles competition in a thrilling Triple Threat Match on 205 Live.

Daivari, who verbally lambasted each of his fellow Cruiserweights on social media to get the scheduled singles match between Atlas and Grey turned into a Triple Threat, got off to a shaky start, completely whiffing on a crossbody from the top rope when Grey and Atlas simply stepped out of the way.

But Daivari Dinero had a few other tricks up his sleeve, namely allowing Atlas and Grey to battle one on one and striking primarily when his opponents were vulnerable.

The strategy paid dividends at the bout’s conclusion, as Atlas nearly spiked Grey through the canvas with a Cartwheel DDT, only to be yanked out of the ring by Daivari, who clocked Atlas with a right fist that was wrapped in a gold chain. Moments later, Daivari clobbered the staggered Grey with a Hammerlock Lariat to score the win.

In the final Women’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic First-Round Match, Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart collided with Marina Shafir and Zoey Stark in an edge-of-your-seat slugfest.

Moon got into the fighting spirt and showed some team unity by sporting green face paint and perching herself on the back of Blackheart’s tank for the pre-match ride to the ring, though Stark came storming out of the starting blocks, lifting Moon high above the canvas and forcefully chucking her into turnbuckles before raining down stomps.

Once Shafir received the tag, however, Moon got the better of a wild exchange of punches, and she and Blackheart had their opponents reeling when they positioned them on the second rope and nailed them with kicks to the head.

Stark nearly earned the upset when she dropped Blackheart on her knee, but Moon interrupted the count at the last second and hit the ring like she was fired out of a cannon when she received the tag.

After blistering Stark with several strikes and snapmare, Moon locked her foe in a submission hold to force the tapout.

With the victory, Moon and Blackheart are primed for a semifinal clash against Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell.
