This is a list of various things that took place in 1973.

Significant events[]

June

  • 30 - The first WWWF-promoted wrestling card at New York City's Madison Square Garden is aired on the premium cable channel HBO, with Vince McMahon Jr. providing commentary. To date, it is the earliest-known existing video footage of a complete MSG show that has been commonly available, either via download, on WWE-authorized releases or on video-sharing services; however, two MSG matches from 1971, both in their entirety -- Ivan Koloff defeating Bruno Sammartino for the WWWF Heavyweight Championship, and Pedro Morales defeating Koloff for the belt a month later -- are also in WWE's library and available for viewing. Until 1982, not all MSG shows were televised. HBO would continue to air matches from MSG through 1980, after which the USA Network would take over, beginning a relationship with the WWF (and later WWE) that continues to this day.
