O Royal Rumble de 2012 foi um evento pay-per-view promovido pela WWE, ocorreu no dia 29 de janeiro no Scottrade Center na cidade de St. Louis, Missouri.[2] Esta foi a 25.ª edição da cronologia do Royal Rumble. Como tradição o vencedor do Royal Rumble garantiu o direito a lutar no evento principal da WrestleMania por um dos dois principais títulos da empresa: WWE Championship ou World Heavyweight Championship.
Antes do evento[]
Na Raw do dia 2 de janeiro, o general manager interino John Laurinaitis anunciou que CM Punk defenderia o WWE Championship contra Dolph Ziggler e que ele seria o árbitro da luta. Desde seu retorno a WWE Kane atacou John Cena e Zack Ryder, isto levou aos dois a lutar no evento. Dando continuidade a principal disputa da SmackDown Daniel Bryan defenderia o World Heavyweight Championship contra Big Show e Mark Henry em uma Triple Threat Steel Cage. Na última edição da Raw antes do evento The Miz foi derrotado por R-Truth, com o resultado Miz foi obrigado a ser o número um a entrar no Royal Rumble.
O evento[]
Daniel Bryan derrotou Big Show e Mark Henry para manter o World Heavyweight Championship, Bryan venceu ao escapar da jaula primeiro. Beth Phoenix, Natalya, Nikki Bella e Brie Bella derrotaram Kelly Kelly, Alicia Fox, Tamina e Eve, a vitória ocorreu após Beth Phoenix aplicar um "Glam Slam" em Kelly Kelly. A luta entre John Cena e Kane acabou em dupla contagem. Brodus Clay derrotou Drew McIntyre, Clay venceu após um "What The Funk?". CM Punk derrotou Dolph Ziggler para manter o WWE Championship, Punk venceu após um "GTS". No evento principal Sheamus eliminou por último Chris Jericho para vencer o Royal Rumble. [3][4]
